We don't get proper sunsets here because the beach faces the East but we still get some wonderful times down there because the sun goes down behind us and the tall buildings along the beach serve as shade for everyone. As night falls this is a really wonderful place to be!
This is the most popular time of day to be at the beach and there are tons of activities going on such as surfing, playing ball sports, walking of the dogs, and just hanging out. 2/3 of the things I just mentioned are technically against the rules but I don't think the security personnel actually cares. Not at this portion of the beach anyway.
One thing they will definitely not tolerate though is swimming. Even though I think it is an overreaction on their part, the currents here I guess can be considered a bit dangerous and swimming is only allowed in cordoned off areas which are further down the beach from our sitting spot.
As it gets darker and darker we have this period of time for about an hour where the sun and the moon are both visible at the same time. This is pretty cool in my mind and basically everyone was taking photos of it.
We have also been very fortunate to have such clear skies for the most part. The clouds did move in a little lower as the sun disappeared behind us and it resulted in a pretty neat and spooky scene.
This is the best time of year at the beach in a lot of people's minds even though you can't go for a swim in most places. The weather is starting to turn to very hot, but we are going to get a few more weeks of somewhat mild days and cool nights. After that, it is going to go back to punishingly hot all day and most of the night for 6 months. We plan to enjoy it while we can and spend as much time as possible down there on the beach. Not swimming of course :)
This is rather unusual. Had I not read the blog, the picture actually suggested me ot was a sun 😂 I think this is the first time I see golden hour with moon by the beach photography. Super brilliant.
Thanks pal. This time of year the skies are normally quite clear so you can get good shots down there almost every day.
I so missed the beach! Its sad that swimming there is a bit dangerous. Is there a time that they'll allow it? On that particular spot?
there are some roped off areas that they allow swimming but there are not very many of them. Unfortunately during busy times of years these areas are so full of people that it isn't very fun though.
The last image that you used is beautiful, the small moon engulfed by the clouds but still showing it's radiance.
I love beaches and that's too bad that you are not allowed to enjoy swimming. Though we cannot remove the fact that it is dangerous as you have mentioned so safety first. By any chance do they allow a certain location to where you can enjoy swimming for sure there's a safe spot to that?
There are roped off areas with buoys that the lifeguards monitor constantly. People are allowed to swim in there but it isn't very much fun because there are always so many people in the same spot and the few times I have tried it you just end up running into strangers all the time.

This is incredible! It's unfortunate the sunset is not as glorious as it is in other parts of the world but the sun and moon in one frame are amazing.
I think that place is a good place to hang out even when there are so many things that are against the rules.
The sun coexisting with the moon looks magical, kind of like the things people paint onto their canvases. It made me miss the beach even more, it had been ages since I went to one. This place would be perfect if swimming can be as enjoyable as the scenery but we must get ourselves safe and sound, I get that.
yes I agree. I don't recall many places that i have ever been where the sun and moon were both visible at the same time.
Late afternoon early evening is always the best time as not only is it much cooler but less people around normally. You would think they would put in a tidal pool at least so people could enjoy swimming in safety.
They have areas where you can swim but they are too small to really enjoy it. Also they don't let you go out into the sea any further than around chest-deep water.
At first I was thinking there was an archaic COVID-related reason for the prohibited swimming. Well, glad to see it's something much more sensible, and surely there had to have been an incident there before that caused the authorities to close the beach.
I think they like having a zero death policy. Some countries' visitors have a tendency to go out into the ocean with zero capability of swimming and then never return.
