Because of the pandemic I only working minimum 6 days a months, which is the reason I have to commute 2 hours by bike to my working place.
If only there is a working public transportation I would gladly took that, as I can sleep and be safe using that public transportation rather than going back and forth using my bike, a bit tiring.
But also because of the commute I can see things that I might miss if I took the public transportation. I should stop more later and took the picture so that I can share it with you guys here.
Just like how I see these farmers who preparing the rice field for the planting season. It was a bit late when I saw and took the picture of them. Around 5 or 6 pm. But they were working hard to be able to plant the paddy together with the other farmer in the area.

These two farmers are still finishing the work on the rice field, we can see they are using the hoe near the rice field embankment. and the rice field is already plough.

While this farmer is still plowing the rice field using a small tractor. Things are already modernized, because Balinese farmers used to use a plow dragged by two cow to plow the rice field. Even my father already using tractor to plow his rice field.

There is another farmer in the distance doing almost exactly the same, preparing the rice field for the planting season. He was surrounded by storks which is looking for prey in the newly cultivated rice field.

Its the vast area of rice field, which is mostly still owned by the local farmers, and almost still being cultivated the old way. I wonder if they are also enjoying and appreciated the sunset.

On the far right is the Mount Agung, the highest volcano in Bali. She has settle down now, after giving a short wake up in 2017. But thanks to her, we have such a fertile land to cultivate.
Tractors are slowly becoming more and common in Cambodia, even for poor rural farmers. Are there still many farmers in Bali that use animals to pull the plow?
I believe in some area they still using it. I think my father starts using tractor from less than 10 years ago, thanks to government aid, they gave a tractor for a "subak" (kind of communal association for local farmer) so they can use it one by one.
my friend even shared a video of him pulling the plow by himself, but his area is know for seasonal planting season, and it is only for corn or peanut.
Great that you found time on your commute to be introspective and take those photos to share here. I miss Bali so much!
Thank you so much. I should start to stop more and take more picture next time to share here.
I really do hope that the pandemic can ends as soon as possible. I has bee way too long. Let me know when you are here, maybe we can meet up sometimes : )
Planting rice is a really hard job to do, and it's so painful that not a lot of people are giving them the respect and appreciation they deserve. Rice is a staple for us southeast asian countries and we should learn to give better compensation for our beloved farmers.
its is because we almost being taught to look down on farmers, none of the parents even wants their kids of dreaming becoming a farmer.
But now after most of the land being palnted with building, and the pandemic hit, we can learn that farmer is a very sustainable job, at least to put food to the table.
the rice growing season is here again. So am here in thai too . Looking at their hardwork of growing rice for us to eat reminds me of mum's saying that rice are grow with effort. Dont waste any rice as is bought by hard earn money
yep that is true. my parent always scold me whenever i can't finish the rice when we eat. :)
as my father has to works under the heat of the sun, or gettting wet when its rain just to get the rice on the table.
so it is growing season also there in Thailand. nice :)
yes so am mine. Because of them we have rice today. And is done by their hard earn effort. Yup same now is the time
2 hours commuting by bike? 😮😮 That is quite a distance.
One day when the paddy plant is nearing the harvest season, please share with us the pictures 🙏🙏
yes 2 hours for one way. total I spent 4 hours each time to go to work.
