That's why people need to take parasites very seriously. A lot of times when we see emaciated dogs on the street we just presume that it is hunger, but it actually can be a lot of other things. Panther never wanted for food, he was really well-fed but just like when a person is sick, the appetite is one of the first things to go. Without intervention their situation will get progressively worse.
Yes if anyone did not have your knowledge people would presume hunger was the problem.
