I couldn't agree with you more. The only people in our group that live downtown either own businesses there and live above them or they are "in and out" type people that only live here for a certain percentage of the year. Living in the outskirts is definitely where it is at. I lived in the South and just like all the shopping that you have near you, it exists that way as well. In fact, I think there is more shopping outside of the city centre than there is in it.
