Catching Up With Relatives Over Some Grilled Foods!

in ASEAN HIVE COMMUNITY2 months ago (edited)

Hello everyone... Today, I would like to share my family's activity.

The other day, my husband's cousin called him to inform that he is going to visit us at home with his son. One of his purposes in coming to our house is to bring us a souvenir (coffee) from their relative abroad.

That relative gave us one, too. Of course, we are delighted especially my daughter @tegoshei who is a coffee lover. We are also excited to see my husband's cousin and his cute and smart son Ecee or Insoy by nickname.

Since I knew they’re coming, I thought about what food to serve them. I know how close my husband and his cousin are, so I’m expecting that they will catch up and make up for the days they haven’t seen each other. They are both busy with their families.

Every time they hangout, there should always be some grilled foods and a little wine or whisky… sometimes beer, depending on what they feel like drinking.

So, I ask my husband to buy some pork belly, milkfish, chorizo, cabbage and some spices like tomatoes, onions and garlic, as well as some lemon. When he arrived home from the market, I then prepared the pork while my husband took care of the fish.

After washing the pork belly thoroughly, I marinated it with sprite, soy sauce, a bit of brown sugar, salt, lemon, ground black pepper and garlic. I usually add pineapple juice to help tenderize the meat but I forgot to put it on my list. Anyways, Sprite can also tenderize the meat, so I used it instead. So, here are the marinated pork belly and the milk fish stuffed with tomatoes and onions.

Grilling time happened in the afternoon. Aside from the pork belly and milkfish my husband and I prepared earlier, we also grilled some chorizo. We love the flavor of this chorizo! My daughter loves grilled cabbage, too. We don’t directly grill it on the griller, but it should be put on the top of the meat.

It's already dinner time for us, but our visitors haven’t arrived, yet. So, we just ate ahead of them because my daughter still has to work. She’d be late from her work if we still wait for them.

A few minutes after we had our dinner, they finally arrived, so I served them the food we prepared earlier. They happily ate the food we served them.

After they ate, we spent some great time chatting. Later on, @tegoshei came out from her room and joined us for a bit during her break before going back to work again.

The fun chatting of my husband and his cousin continued over a few drinks and grilled foods. Time flew by very fast that we didn’t notice that it was already 10PM until my daughter came out of her room again. She ended her work an hour earlier than usual, so she could join us. I enjoyed my time with her and Insoy. An hour later, the visitors bade us goodbye and promised to come again.

Also, this is the coffee they brought for us...

I hope you like my story today. Thank you and God bless us all!

It was indeed a blast!!!😍
We really had so much fun that night. The funny conversation over some foods and drinks especially when the two boys got a bit drunk already. But good thing is...they can really control their alcohol intake. They stopped when they felt tipsy. ☺

It is really nice to share good foods with families / relatives. We usually do this every Sunday, when everyone is at home.
