A different kind of pumpkin

in HiveGarden25 days ago

This year with @outlinez we grew a different variety of pumpkins in our garden - the so-called naked seed pumpkin.

It has a different decoration on the peel than other pumpkins and what is specific to it is that only its seeds are consumed.

The seeds were given to me by a neighbor and I did not know if there were any more specific features when sowing. Therefore, I planted the seeds in a pot and after the seedlings were ready, I moved them outdoors. Out of over 10 seedlings - only one such pumpkin survived.

Now that I know what a pumpkin looks like, I found some information about it. This pumpkin variety is called Miranda. Its seeds (5;6 pcs.) are planted directly outdoors in nests with a diameter of about 50 cm.

This is what it looks like from the inside:

Next year we will plant them this way, because the seeds are not only very useful, but also very tasty.

Pumpkin seeds are extremely rich in nutrients that improve heart and digestive health, regulate blood sugar, are good for hair and skin, have powerful antioxidant properties, provide a lot of energy to the body, and a host of other beneficial properties.

Oh I love this! that you can grow pumpkins with delicious seeds. I always end up sprouting seeds inside pumpkins then buying pepita seeds for toasting. Honestly I hadn't thought to find pumpkins with seeds I like but will certainly keep that in mind for next year!!

It would be great to find such a variety of pumpkin next year 😍. Good luck 🤗

I really like pumpkin seeds, especially after roasting them, they taste similar to sunflower seeds but a little crunchier!

Oh yes - roasted pumpkin seeds taste very good, but they are also very tasty raw 👍

Love to have some steamed pumpkin with coconut!

I haven't tried steamed pumpkin with coconut! That sounds great 😊. I'll look for recipes. Thanks for the idea @kaminchan 🤗
