Hello Gardening Lovers, the hot summer has hit various regions in Indonesia, including the area where I live, namely the city of Binjai. The impact of this summer has caused the price of some vegetables to double, the price of a bundle of spinach which I usually buy is Rp. 3000/bunch, now it is Rp. 5000/bundle. Therefore, to meet my family's vegetable needs, I regularly plant various vegetables. This way I can save money and also feel safe with the vegetables that I grow myself without manufactured fertilizers. Today I will plant kale, a green plant that is rich in chlorophyll and minerals.
Grow organic kale
The steps I took to plant kale are :
1.Filling polybags with soil
The limited land doesn't stop me from growing various vegetables, moreover in the garden there are also chickens that like to disturb the plants. But I still try to grow vegetables using polybag media. The first step I took was to put the soil into the polybag. I have put the soil into 50 polybags to plant kale.
2.Looking for quality seeds
After the polybag is filled with soil, I will look for kale seeds, which are found in many fish ponds. I will choose the kale seeds. I will take some stalks of kale from the fish pond.
Next select the stem that has been rooted.
Next cut the rooted stems.
Now, I have lots of kale seeds to plant in polybags.
3.Planting Kale in polybags
Now, that I have 50 polybags of kale, I plant them organically without any factory fertilizers.
Planting pumpkins
I also grow pumpkin from seeds. I will choose the fat seeds.
The seeds that I get, I will cut off the ends to speed up the process of seed growth.
Next, plant the seeds.
Organic Plant Care
To speed up the process of growing plants in the garden, I use coarse salt. I will check some of the plants that I will be doing maintenance on. A few weeks ago I planted cassava and lemongrass, I will check whether the lemongrass and cassava plants have grown.
I see the lemongrass plants that I planted start to grow into a few stems, I'll give it some coarse salt. Put coarse salt around the plants, you don't need much, just 1/2 teaspoon for new plants.
I looked at the weather during the day, it looks like it will rain this afternoon, quite thick black clouds have started to cover the sky. I dare to use coarse salt instead of fertilizer because it's going to rain. REMEMBER: ADDITION OF CRUDE SALT IS DONE WHEN IT IS GOING TO RAIN.
I will also give coarse salt to the cassava plants.
Collection of Fruit Plants in my garden
Flowers from the fruit of the rambutan tree begin to become fruit.
Due to the very hot weather, white spots appear on the rambutan tree flowers, but when exposed to rain, the white spots on the rambutan fruit stalks will begin to disappear.
The durian tree started to grow, some small branches started to develop.
The apple tree also started to grow, some small branches started to develop.
Hybrid coconut trees are also starting to grow, the leaves are growing profusely.
Finally a banana that is as big as me, this is a type of green Ambon banana, this banana likes a warm climate for its growth. Green Ambon is a type of banana that can be eaten immediately after turning yellow, no need to be processed into food.
