What’s up, hive friends? I’m back again for another blog of mine; are you ready? Because I’m really eager to tell you about my new chika. Anyway, before I start, I just want to say hello to these gorgeous people in the hive. How are you all? Are you feeling good? Well, same. I feel so good. Alright, shall we start?

It was Sunday, and it’s 4 in the afternoon, when my mother asked my father to harvest our avocado because it was ready to harvest. There are some instances where some of our avocado crop accidentally drops to its tree due to being over ripe. That gives my mama a hint to harvest our avocado, so that my papa could bring some to his workplace. Of course, my father agreed and immediately created a fruit picker.

My Palm was bigger than our avocado

I don’t really understand why our avocado fruit right now is so cute, because the last time we harvested it, its fruit was really different from now. Maybe because of the change of weather, the fruit crops stopped growing, but I really don’t know what was really the cause of it.

The two lovely birds

Going back, after my father created a fruit picker, my mother offered him a helping hand, so they’re like a tandem in harvesting our avocado fruit, and that was so sweet of them. My father is the one who used the fruit picker, while my mother will be the one who gets the avocado and puts it in the bucket—a perfect two.

While they are busy harvesting our avocado, I also have a task to do. Since my mom told me to grill the fish for our dinner, of course, just like my father did, I do what our commander commands. I’m busy preparing the fish and also everything for the grilling when I hear my mother complaining about the size of our avocado fruit. Well, I can’t really blame her; the size of our avocado was really different from our previous avocados—the last time we harvested, I guess 3–4 avocados were already 1 kilo. Yeah, it’s really huge, but know what a cutie little avocado is.

While I was waiting for the firewood to burn and turn into charcoal, I went to mom and dad’s for a while to see their harvested avocados. When I saw our avocado fruit, it was really very small. I just laughed at this and put it in my palm to compare. And since I was there, mom told me if it’s ok with me if I’ll be the one who transfers the avocados to the container for a while because she will give food to our animals. And since the fish was not ready yet, I agreed with her. And go near my papa. Don’t worry, guys, our distance to the fish is very close, so I can see the fish.

It’s all set, so I started grilling the fish

This is my papa; he’s very hardworking and very kind. Maybe I inherited my attitude toward him. They say that when I was little, I really looked like my papa, but right now they say that my facial features are the same as those of my mama. Well, I’m confused.

Oh, by the way, we also have a dragon fruit. My sister planted this when she was in her senior high school year. Honestly speaking, I don’t like its taste. Of course, I know that the dragon fruits have a lot of vitamins, but sorry guys, I just really can’t eat the whole fruit; it’s too much for me.

Shimmering, shining tiny avocados

The bucket was already full, so I immediately got a basin. I really loved avocado; do you love avocado too? But you know what? I don’t know, but my older sister doesn’t like it’s taste, even its color. She said that she couldn’t take a look at it. Let’s just accept the fact that we all have different likes and uniqueness, so we need to embrace all of it.

I think the bat did this, my papa told me to give this to our roaster so I did.

He's a pro

Since the avocado tree is kind of tall and there are some that can’t be reached by the fruit picker that my papa made, he decided to climb to its tree. I was amazed by the talent of my papa; imagine he got to the top in just a minute. Actually, I teased him while he was busy getting the fruits; he just laughed and said, “Bang-an kas imong papa, mangat-katay kog mangga og lubi sa uslob pagka bata nako." I laughed so hard. Imagine he’s a pro; no DNA test is needed. I’m really the daughter of my papa. And the place was filled with laughter.

The grilled fish is almost done, and I informed my mama that my father is also done harvesting our avocados. I go to our kitchen to get a plate for the fish. When I returned, I saw my papa, who was busy lifting the bucket full of avocados. I asked him to stop to take some photos of him, and he then did what I said.

He’s really happy, and the evidence was shown in his eyes.

Look at my dad, featuring his cute-sized avocados. Even though the size of our avocado was really far from our previous avocado that we’ve harvested over the past years, I still thank God for the blessings that he gave us. I really appreciate it, especially because it brings joy to my parents and, of course, to me. It’s really true that "pag may itinanim, tiyak meron Kang aanihin.”.

I loved this story of family life and avocadoes! It reminds us that a garden is not indpendeent of the people who tend it.
