My Lilac Diesel plant is starting to get real frosty. It has a few months left to grow before the cold weather shows up and it will be time to chop it and start drying the buds.. And then move onto curing after the buds have been chopped and dried.. Really curious about the flavor of this one.. With a name like Lilac Diesel I wonder what it will vape like. I looked up the strain and looks like it may have a citrus flavor to it. Maybe something flowery based on the name.
I did not keep track of this plants age, but it is the only one left from all the ones I started this year. The other three ended up being males so I had to get rid of them. Luckily this one ended up being a female so that was nice. When it comes to growing cannabis plants, there is a half and half chance of getting male plants verses female plants. Due to this sometimes you have to get rid of them half way through their grow cycle when you find out its the wrong sex for producing buds. But you can get "feminized" seeds which will always be female.. that is the way to go I think.
Right now the plant is all green, but we have been getting cold evenings that are getting into the forties, fifties and sixties. Due to this the plant may change some of its colors to purple or even black. These are good traits to have, as it changes the flavor and chemistry of the buds due to this.
Around this time in the grow, the sugar leaves form and we really see the plant start packing on the pounds. I already topped this plant so it will not get too much taller but the buds could get very dense.
The plant has bushed out quite a lot, filling the space around it. I go in with a weed whacker and make sure it has enough space away from the weeds to grow.
Now I need to wait, it still has a good month maybe one and a half months left to grow.
I expect the buds to get much larger, get even more frosty and maybe turn purple in a few weeks. With the autumn setting in, I think its likely. And seeing other peoples grows of this strain makes me think its possible as their plants turned purple.
So I may just end up having some Purple Lilac Diesel to enjoy.. Just one plant, but more than enough to last me many months.
After I wrap up on this grow it will be time to start growing in the tent again indoors. With the weather in late October turning into freezing weather I will be back to growing again under the warm lights. I hope to continue experimenting with purple cannabis, I have two grow tents.. One in my basement where it gets cooler and one in the main level of the house where its warmer. So I hope one goes purple and one does not.. And then I can compare the the two buds to see how different they are, same strain just one going purple and one not. Its fun I can do things like this now where its legal to grow up top four cannabis plants. I have always wanted to do this but now living somewhere its legal makes me quite happy.

How can you tell the male from the female , do you lift up a leaf and it has a couple of plant balls?
It is still illegal here, but people make them grow secretly. All plants require some attention..interesting to see the growth of purple
I was surprised to know that out of all these trees, one girl tree was found. However, this tree is rare in our country and I think it is the first time I am seeing it. Still, I don't know why I think I have caught my eye on this type of tree, but that too is rare. If I had a photo, I could have compared it with your photo. Thank you for sharing it with us.
I don’t grow cannabis but we talked about plants in school and how temp affects them, so it’s interesting seeing it for real. Excited to see if yours turns purple.
The plants looking good! Excited to see how the buds turn out, especially if they start showing those purple colors. Lilac Diesel sounds like it’s gonna taste amazing. It's cool that you can try indoor vs outdoor too.
Your plants have finally entered the flowering phase. I can't wait to see those buds harvested and processed into vape.
That is a pretty plant, shame that those few came out males though. It looks like it should be a great producer, and hopefully going to taste great! The feminized seeds are a much better bet, so I think you're smart to stick with those.
Keeping them tented and indoors certainly will increase that growing season, it's just nice you have a nice and legal locations to grow your cannabis. Things weren't so easy just 20 years ago, how times change...
It should be interesting to compare the purple vs the green buds, I imagine it should change the flavor somewhat, maybe substantially. Looking forward to hearing about it!
