Some fungal causes of rice plants and methods of fungal control |
---|
A fungus called Bipolaris zeicola inhibits the growth of S. oryzae, the fungus responsible for the disease. Fungicidal extracts of the leaves and flowers of mullein can completely suppress the growth of this fungus.
Bangladesh Rice Research Institute has so far detected a total of 32 diseases in different areas and varieties of rice in Bangladesh at different times. Out of these 10 are major diseases and the remaining 22 are minor. These diseases reduce the yield of rice by 10-15 percent. Among the diseases, 2 are viral, 3 are bacterial, 22 are fungal, 5 are helminthic. Below are the descriptions of 9 rice diseases and disease control management.
- Name of the disease: Brown spot disease
Cause of the disease: Bipolaris oryzae is caused by the fungus.
This disease can occur in rice plants of any age from the seedling stage. However, if the age of the seedling is high, the incidence of the disease is high. Lack of nutrients or lack of water in the soil increases the level of disease.
Symptoms of disease
Small spots like sesame seeds fall on the leaves. The spots enlarge and become white in the center and brown at the edges.
Multiple spots can form large spots and kill the leaf. The disease is more common in the seed than in the leaf. Diseased plants produce malnourished seeds and turn brown.
Disease Remedy : Sow healthy seeds; Soak the seeds in hot water (50°C) for 30 minutes.
Actions by our office and increase the motivation of farmers and discussion of proper fertilizer application method. |
---|
First of all we discussed with the head of the office i.e. Upazila Agriculture Officer about the fact that the farmers have seen root rot and thor rot and the attack of spider plants has increased. . Then pest control will be possible and he gave us a signboard as proof of the crops of the farmers that we have investigated and he gave us a signboard to deliver it to the farmers and to put it on their land and discussed and advised us accordingly and he said in the next few days. I want to hold another discussion meeting so that the farmers do not have to go through all these hardships, he asks to take a measure and to ensure that they get regular services, i.e. in terms of crops, so we should be firm. Hope we try to stand by every farmer and encourage them. They should be encouraged to do more that crop diseases can be suppressed and crops can be re-grown and crops should be cured by fighting crop diseases. First day's blog was I will definitely share with you all what I learn from my teacher.
