Is it raining at the moment? How do you manage garden jobs in the rain? For me it brought some unique goodies this time.

Ever seen and ate these jumbo sized mushrooms fresh from nature ? For the very first time in my entire life, the nature God gifted these king sized mushrooms at the abandoned place, where my pots were kept earlier. If you remember, I moved my pots to that abandoned place, when the society asked me to move them to convert the garden into a mini playground. After more than a year, I moved them back to their home, as nothing happened.

I left these three curry leaves pot there as they are pretty big and, in an early morning after rain stopped, when I went there to look after these pots, I discovered these gifts from nature.

Looks amazing, isn't it ? So many big mushrooms and no one noticed them because they would have never thought about they growing at this place, even in their wildest imagination.

The place was covered with polythene to prevent grass from growing and they were all left over polythene from our painting job of the home few years back. I always keep things, that I feel may be used for some purpose later. Since there were some holes in these polythene, may be the rain water poured into the ground and created some hot and cold impact on the soil, causing these mushrooms to grow.

Once I saw a few of them, I carefully unfolded all the polythene and it was a lot of them that would serve couple of families.

So I called our security guys and gifted half to them, as these guys can't even afford to buy mushrooms from market. Instead of giving to other rich residents, I consider it a better cause to give to needy people and they were very pleased to thank me a lot with gratitude, to get this rare opportunity.

Again one need an experienced eye to recognize these mushrooms, otherwise the blind rule with mushrooms is that, don't eat if you are not two hundred percent sure - they can be fatal. The security guy is a very old man, who confirmed my findings, I had seen these kind of mushrooms only once before, at my native, back in August, about which I posted an image in this post. And it rained since then, disrupting all my plan, but we always have to live with the mercy of the nature - nothing can change that - no technology, no AI. We living 40 miles off the coast, heavy rain and cyclones have been part of our life every year.

And as this was the very fist time, the kids got opportunity to taste these nature's gift, the lady did take extra care, to prepare a mouth watering grilled dish. This is the second time, they were delighted with these nature's gift, if you remember, I was gifted to discover sand mushrooms once earlier. For sure, our kids will never carry this knowledge and can't give the same culinary pleasure to their kids - these things never sell in market. After eating them, the kids told, this is the most tasty food they have ever eaten so far, so you can imagine.

This type of mushroom generally grows in red/yellow soil. Edible and tasty too.
By the way, homegrown mushroom, or naturally sprouted mushroom is always a special treat.
That's a very generous gesture sir, so kind of you. As such mushroom rate in the market is quite high now.

It rains in Seattle almost every day from October to July, but our rain is very light, so I just do garden stuff in the rain, a little mud is OK with me :)
Nice that you shared the mushrooms with the security guys that are in need.
Well, all zhe mushroom are not safe to consume, it is always good to cross check before eating it. I like the way to send instead of giving to rich residents, you choose to give Poor man...
anyway mushroom is my favourite, But never tasted such mushroom.. How was taste of it ??
Delicious, better than mutton even.
Oh this is lovely looking at how the mushrooms are scattered on ground with it's sparkling white even right there in the plate is so delicious, the children will always remember you for that 🤣😆
Well you write this blog so you must have been 200% sure they were safe to eat lol!
Isn't it great picking mushrooms as they are the tastiest you can get! Even my mouth is watering.
Whoa, so happy for your harvest, and they are really huge, compared to the ones I fount in our garden yesterday 🫠🥹. And what's more amazing is you can eat them. I never dared cook any mushrooms that we found in our yard. We are not that too familiar with them to be honest.
That's pretty awesome. I am glad you were careful about it made sure they were safe. Mushrooms are usually pretty cheap here in the US, so we don't mind just getting them at the store. When I was a kid though we used to grow them in our shoe closet in a cardboard box.
Depends on which mushrooms :) The chantarelles are $32/pound here...
We not fancy like that.
That's a lot of mushrooms! It's similar to the edible ones we cook here.
Here, rain definitely doesn't make an appearance, but at least his garden gets enough water to look so great, in addition to an excellent mushroom crop. But as he rightly says, you have to know how to differentiate the edible ones from the poisonous ones.
:) The shrooms are here!! :P
I don’t have a garden but it’s been raining heavily these days in my country
I love the mushrooms popping in your garden
Nice!
Sabroso el hongo ..? Hay muchas variedades comestibles ..
Oh it is amazing to discover mushrooms in your place. It was raining and boom, a group of edible mushrooms. Not only mushrooms but big mushrooms. I have not seen one of that kind but it looks tasty🥺 You garden is so blessed and rich.
Too bad we had plenty of rain, and when it's sunny it's very hot. It killed some of our plants.
Awesome mushrooms harvest to you friend and very important the rain in the garden
Nature truly rewards patience and care those mushrooms were not just food but a reminder that small acts and simple gifts can bring real joy.
Are these kind of mushrooms can be eaten?
Wow good to see you you're enjoying the benefits of rain in you're garden..for many, rain is such a blessing it's a Nature's gift ..it's the time that plants sustain its growth and nourishing it's roots
Yes
Nature always finds a way to surprise us! ❤️
What leaves did you use to steam the mushrooms? They look interesting, like the leaves used for bakcang.
They are Sal (Sal tree or Shorea_robusta) plant leaves
Nature does surprise us sometimes. I can relate to this, after the rain, the soil and weather create perfect conditions for unexpected growth. Those mushrooms are truly a gift from nature.
It is sunny now but few weeks ago was rain and humid in fact there were mushrooms popping around in the gardens! At your place too I see
It’s amazing how nature surprises us when we least expect it. Those jumbo mushrooms must have been a beautiful sight to see after the rain. I really like how you connected it to sharing and kindness,it shows the true joy of gardening and appreciating nature’s little gifts.
It’s so nice that you shared them with your local security staff too. Nature really does have some wonderful surprises after the rain.
One of the things that I have come to discover that even though it might rain in some places, it is always regulated in gardens because of the crops planted
During rainy season it is very obvious to get good results from your plantation. The mushrooms are white, healthy and indeed so lovely. I eat mushrooms and it is full of nutrients
