Passionflower in honor of the Semana Mayor

in HiveGarden3 years ago

The courtyard of my parents' house is an orchard, within this vegetable profusion highlights the parchita or passion fruit (Passiflora edulis L) which emits a beautiful flower known as the passion flower, because according to Christian tradition its floral arrangement is similar to the passion of Christ and its anthesis occurs from 1 to 3 in the afternoon, hour that coincides with the cruxifiction of Jesus.

They argue that the sum of the five petals and the five sepals, i.e. ten representing the ten faithful apostles (except Judas for having sold him and Peter for having denied him), the three stigmata represent the three nails with which Jesus was fixed on the cross, the five stamens symbolize the five wounds and the perimeter aspect of the flower is similar to the crown of thorns.

I did not hesitate to take pictures with this beautiful flower.

It is a climbing plant because it emits tendrils that allow it to support itself from another plant or structure that is placed on it.
