RE: Seed Starting Season in New York - by Sunscape

in HiveGarden10 months ago

We live near each other, although I am in zone 5 here in Allegany County. My tiny garden produces quite a bit, but nothing like yours! I'm jealous.

You start eggplant in January?!! Perhaps this is why I hardly get any eggplants - I started them in early May last year! lol

I did manage to get quite a few Rosita Eggplants a few years ago, when I lived in zone 6, but I bought those seedlings at the farmer's market. I gotta get going on my seedlings!

Thanks for the timeline - very useful! These dates are so many weeks before the frost date of April 21? And what do you mean by frost date? We got a frost in mid May last year.

Very impressive!!!

I knew we were close to each other, @owasco. The third week of April is our average last frost. Although some years has been later. I use the timetable weeks for May planting. I guess I should have been clear on that. I can cover my plants if I need to. I do start things a lot earlier because I have the greenhouse and cold frame protection. I will continue to share as time goes on. Get those eggplant started, 😁😉
