Quenching Thirst: Seeing how happy my plants are after last night's rain.

in HiveGardenlast year (edited)

Lately, the sun has been cruel. It hasn't rained for three weeks already. The heat has been too much and unbearable and I could not feel any less worried about my plants. Nestled at the top of a hill, my house is not spared from the agonizing heat of the sun. I keep watering my plants every day but I can see some of them withering. Their bright green leaves turned brown and dry. I was alarmed. I was bothered. So I transferred them to a much safer place, somewhere where they are shaded and need not battle the sun's scorching heat.

I transferred some of them to my little balcony. There, they have shelter against too much sun. Some were put under the shade of my baby Molave trees. Some plants are bound to survive extreme heat so I replanted them in areas where they are needed and continued to be watered every day.

Last night, it rained a little but quite enough to quench the plant's thirst for heavenly water. I am happy for my plants. I know they have been longing for rain for quite a while.

SKIP THIS!😂 My partner and I even had a conversation about the rain which made me laugh. He was asking about the weather here and I told him, it was dark and gloomy but it hasn't still rained. I hope it rains. And then he replied that he has been hoping and wanting for rain too. And I was like, ohhhh I wanna be a rain (something you want and hope for 😂🤦). But seriously, this has become normal to us. We randomly have this kind of ad-lib in our daily conversation to just make things light and easy. And it helps. A lot. So going back to last night's light downpour, I felt happy for my plants.

This morning, around 6, I went outside to unplug the wire of the outside lights and when I peeked out of the window, I saw the surrounding fogging. Instead of going back to bed, I hurriedly took the key and my phone and went outside to catch this view. This has become rare lately.

Here are the raw and unedited photos of this morning's view.

After taking a couple of photos, I checked my plants, how are they and how those little raindrops satisfied their thirst.

And yes, here they are! Looking bright and alive. Some of them are bearing tiny buds of leaves. And by looking at them now, I know they will pull off and survive another day.

My baby papaya tree!

Taking care of these plants doesn't need much but in return, they give us more than what we need. They give us food, fresh air, and beautiful surroundings. They are generous in making us feel well-rested and relaxed. They make our simple house more adorable and a lot more homey. They effortlessly add color and beauty to our sight. Also, there's this kind of fulfillment I get by just simply watering them, taking their dry leaves off, adding soil and manure to their pots, replanting, and seeing them bloom with my care. It feels good to see our plants growing and thriving. It feels like you give justice to having them. And just like us, these plants also manage to survive their everyday battle.
