It has been a week of heavy rain from day to day without stopping. The rainy season that is too heavy causes water from the mountains to cause flooding in some places in the province of North Sumatra from upstream to downstream. Of course, the actions of some people who are not aware of environmental ethics that destroy forest habitats as rainwater absorbers are no longer there.
In the end, all places became artificial lakes in a day. The city of Medan was hit by floods from end to end, causing some people to experience such a terrible disaster, especially in homes located near rivers and low places.
Like the law of physics, where water flows to low places. That's our current situation. Not only floods that occur, there are several places that have landslides due to seeping soil and cutting off the main road for food distribution, especially vegetables and fruits from the mountains. That's where everything turns very scary.
This has an impact on the very high price of vegetables and fruits, due to not being supplied properly because the main road is currently closed due to severe landslides. Even though the area where we live is not flooded, it is difficult for us to get vegetables and fruits, and if we do get them, the quality is very poor. I am very grateful for vegetables that are already wilted.
How lucky I am right now, because I have a small hydroponic area, I rely heavily on some of the vegetables in my garden. It turns out that this is the use of vegetable self-sufficiency and having them at home. At least, even though there is only bok choy, water spinach and lettuce (which is not yet ready to harvest), at least it does not interfere with our family planning funds, because as you know, my wife cannot possibly not eat vegetables because they are her main need as daily fiber as a diabetes survivor.
The rainy season is really very big, uncontrollable and has a big impact on many people right now. Actually, our city is almost submerged, where the discharge of rainwater from the high mountains and also the high coastal waters cause the flow of water to accumulate in one city so that the flood has not receded until now.
However, my vegetables do not seem to be well maintained because the sun is not shining too much, black clouds are always the main ones that appear in the morning with relatively consistent rainfall. That's why my vegetables don't grow well compared to summer. Hydroponics relies heavily on the sun as a source of life.
Call me Isdarmady, because I have a full name that is very long, namely Isdarmady Syahputra Ritonga. I am a head of the family who work as Farmers Vegetables Hydroponic and Consultant Hydroponics, sometimes I also sell coffee from various regions in Indonesia.
I have expertise dispensing coffee with a variety of techniques and tools brewing, because I have the desire to make a coffee shop with hydroponics as centerpieces. Help me realize that dream.

I'm glad to see you are able to grow your lettuces again. Everything looks great. We are now entering winter and it will be some time before I can do hydroponics in the greenhouse. I am envious!
I just got the type of seed that I like the most, so planting lettuce was a wise choice.
@isdarmady I love stopping by to see your crops.
Thank you gusyyy
What an amazing vegetable growing operation! I hope this can help to keep afloat and fed during these difficult times.
really can save me from hunger and malnutrition.
I congratulate you for growing your food, despite the heavy rains. Best regards.
