Harvesting Sweet English Peas - Delicious!

This morning was cool so I took the time to pick and shell the English peas from my garden. These peas are from an experiment where I took dried peas that were for consumption and planted a few of the seeds. Here's the link to that post.

And three months later, I am harvesting delicious fresh peas.

This is the third harvest of peas from the raised bed. I expect that there will be another two or three more harvests before the peas are finished producing.

Shelling about 1 pound of peas takes about 35 minutes. I enjoy the task and I can do it inside. My peas are organically grown. I do not use any pesticides or herbicides. Raised beds help with weed control.
Here's the finished results and ready to be cooked!

My overall goal is to grow as many meals as possible. The garden peas will soon be removed from the raised beds and replaced with summer field peas. And then, a fall crop will be planted, though I haven't decided what that will be yet!

Nice harvest of peas!
A raised bed is the way to grow peas or bush type beans, it's way easier to pick them that way.

You are correct, everything seems to be easier in the raised beds. My back really appreciates that I am no longer bending over so much!. The peas wrapped up production this week, so I removed them and added watermelon seeds. I have never put watermelons in a raised bed, but I thought it might be easier to tend the plants.
