On Monday it rained off and on all day. I spent the day doing laundry and the morning doing bills and budget early for a change. In the evening my son cooked supper (meatloaf and diced beets) and cleaned the bathroom for me.
By 7PM we’d gotten a half inch of rain. It was the second half inch we’d gotten in a week or so, and the plants had really perked up.
We even had puddles in the driveway, but not for very long.
One was even big enough to reflect the treetop.
In the New Herb garden, this is looking down the middle where color was.
Down in the southwest corner all seems to be yellow: tansy, echinacea paradoxa, black-eyed susans, and bird’s foot trefoil.

In the Big garden, tomatoes
Big garden, nasturtium after the rain
More nasturtiums
The leeks have perked up
They had been pretty pale and droopy all week.

On Monday morning I couldn’t stand the mass of 3’ high nightshade in this garden so I pulled it out. The garden is still weedy, but the nightshade is gone.
I discovered my peony is in bad shape. Hopefully it will recover now it has sun and some water.
The New North garden is doing well, but it has been weeded recently and being on the north side, doesn’t get so much sun.
I guess the first ½” of rain was enough to trigger buds on the rugosa rose.
Most of the rosehips look like this from the drought.
But there are a few that aren’t withered.
Small garden, Waltham butternuts
Melon foliage has taken a hit from the drought. There are 5 big melons in this photo.
Something took out all the yellow jewelweed foliage in from of the signature oak tree. I was glad to find this healthy plant on the bank.

Tuesday my intern is coming and we are finally going to inventory freezers while it rains (I hope it rains). I got the giant coolers from the barn and have to clean them up before she gets here.
Awesome looking garden.. it finally decided to rain here last night also..
Thanks and it was badly needed here..
Hello lovely lady! 😊
We are a day behind you weather-wise this week, it's been raining on and off here all day and it's Tuesday. I love seeing your various garden areas, they always have nice bright colours to enjoy. 😊
I've got to go check the carrot cake/loaf on the barbecue, so I'll say goodbye for now. 😊
God bless you and your wonderful family. Have an awesome day my fabulous friend! 😊
oh wow.... look at all your pretty labels in the garden. so pretty.
we either have too much rain or not enough here in subtropical aussie. They are saying we are in for a wet summer to follow our typically dry winter. our tanks are full. we can't take any more rain... yikes.
hope the withered flowers recover.
Hope you get a little more rain if your plants need it
love and light

I used to do a lot of teaching here before my husband died. So many things are labeled but I made big ones for the New Herb garden.
So sorry about your husband.
But those labels are adorable.
You have yourself a lovely day :-)
