Planting trees for the birds.
Norway Spruce provides habitat cover and seeds for food (5)
Hawthorn (1) and Dogwoods (1) provide flowers for bees and berries in the winters for the birds as food.

What kind of trees should I plant next?
I'd like to acquire a Ponderosa Pine and a few others.

What a beautiful detail that you think of the birds and not merely that your garden or plants look good. I don't know if in your area there are hummingbirds, you could plant a plant that gives cup type flowers, where only its beak can reach without any problem, this type of bird looks for them a lot, here there was one whose name I always didn't know, my grandmother planted it, she died a year ago and the plant kind of knew it, it died a few months ago, it was very sad, but when it was well the hummingbirds came to its flowers it was a very beautiful spectacle.

That's amazing. I used to have lilac bushes and the hummingbirds would live in them. Had about 5 or 6 at one time. Neighbor cut them down. I would wonder if they like magnolia trees, it's the closest thing i know of to what you're describing.

Why on earth did your neighbor cut down your plants? You could try to see if they like them
