I have basil yeah, I cook with it a lot and rosemary also. As for pumpkin, I love it, but I can't eat it too much, too high in carbohydrates, so I don't grow it. I used to though, what's called butternut pumpkin. tasty! I eat so little of it though, that I prefer to give the space to things I eat more of.
I have catnip also, Cleo loves it, and I grow a special cat grass for her also.
You're right, but squash is sweet.... is a problem, but there is a small squash we call it in Argentina, or zucchini for stuffing, which is round and all green. It's not sweet and you have no idea how delicious it is stuffed with meat.... an idea hahaha one of the foods I like the most. Here in Spain I don't get it....
Rosemary oil is ideal for muscle aches and pains. I like medicinal herbs very much.
Zucchini works, I had them in my last planting and eat them a few times a week, purchased now as I don't have any growing right now. I tend to stay away from vegetables that are high in carbs like potatoes, corn, pumpkin, sweet potato and limit carrots and peas as they're a little higher in sugars. It's not that I can't have them, but I prefer to limit them.
I was out looking at my fruit trees today...so many almonds growing, and grapefruit, oranges, lemons and the satsuma plum tree is looking like having a good year. It's all looking awesome.
So, soon to be published on fruit trees, right? How beautiful are the almond trees, and I love citrus fruits, especially mandarins and oranges.
You know? In Argentina we make mate with grapefruit hahaha I'm a big fan of mate.🤣
Here's a snap I took this afternoon, one of my almond trees.
Today I drove a few hundred kilometres to visit an open garden (private garden) which is only open on one weekend a year, and this weekend was the last ever. I'll have a post coming up at some stage, managed to get a reasonable image or two. I also took some snaps of some silo art which I'll share at some stage. It was a nice day, picnic lunch and good tunes in the car as I drove. Amazing weather too.
I hope your weekend has been good so far.
How beautiful is that almond tree, it reminds me of someone who taught me a lot of what I know about gardening!
Beautiful weekend then, I'll wait for those shots, I'm sure they'll be beautiful!
The simplest things are the most beautiful things in life, like good music and a picnic, I'm so glad!
I've had better weekends... I'm sure the next one will be better, nothing that can't be solved. Thanks Galen🤗
Oh bummer you had a challenging weekend...you needed a drive in the countryside, agarden visit, and picnic I think. Let's hope next weekend is better.
Yes I think that would make me well.... and continue the challenge... there are days like that, I'll get through it.
Thank you!!!
Fruit and nut trees are the best. I will need to try Almond next. Not sure if they will grow here in Canada
I've got almonds all over my trees and am looking forward to a harvest. Growing up, my parents had an orchard with a lot of different fruit trees including a few big almond trees and we'd get few 44 gallon drums full of them...almonds coming out of our ears. We used to sell and barter them. I'm not sure if they'll grow in Canada though, meaning I have no clue.
Almonds are my favourite… I might need to move to California to grow them…
