I would like to use this wonderful time to share about sorghum farming in Africa. Sorghum is cereal grain that longs today grass family. Cerial grains is commonly used in baking but in Africa it is used for so many things.
Many farmers in Africa particularly Ghana produce a lot of sorghum for both domestic and commercial purposes. Not all the lands that sorghum can be produced on. Millets don't light a waterlogged land. Sorghum crop grow very well in sandy loam soil having good drainage. Soil pH range of 6 to 7.5 is good for it. This crop grow well where Summers are quite warm, which datum temperature regularly topping 90 degrees. Sandy soil in warm climates is good for growing Sorghum because it's wrist and droughts and flooding. Sorghum is a perennial tropical grass which takes about 115 to 140 days to bear crops.
WHITISH SORGHUM IN GHANA
The time taken for Sorghum to start producing crops depends on the type of land on which it is planted or the soil fertility. The type of Sorghum will also determine the time it will take to start producing. In Ghana, Sorghum is only produced in the Northern part of the country because the soil there is very conducive for it. About sixty percent of farmers in the Northern Region of Ghana farm Sorghum.

In northern region of Ghana where I come from, there is only two varieties of sorghum produced there. We have the reddish sorghum and the White sorghum. The type of sorghum that are produced in large quantities in this region is the reddish one. They produce it in high quantity because they use it for several purposes.

In Ghana, sorghum is used for many purposes. In northern region of Ghana, hey you still going to prepare food. The sorghum is grind in the corn mill and use the flour to prepare food. Other uses of sorghum is for preparation of drink called Pitoo. Pitoo is made from fermented sorghum. This drink ace of two types; fermented one and unfermented one. This drink is used in most of the locations performed in this part of the country. The natives like the drink more than any other drink in the country. The drink is also very medicinal.

Sorghum is believed to have health benefits. Sorghum contain B vitamins which play essential role in metabolism, nerve cell development and healthy hair and skin. These and many other benefits can be derived from Sorghum.
