I choose to plant it on a large plant pot this time, which is summer, it is because of the too much heat or the heat index that my country, Philippines experiencing right now, which is really high, and I am always hoping for the rain to come.

The shaded area where I transferred and placed my spinach.

It is easy for me to move and transfer the plants in a shady area especially between 10 o'clock in the morning until 3 o'clock in the afternoon which is really hot, and when the leaves of the plants started to lose its rigidity even though I water it early in the morning.

My beautiful Spring Onions

Moreover, I preferred planting my spinach, basil, and spring onions in a plant pot because of the type of soil that I have in my yard. It is hard and rocky.

This kind of vegetables grow best in a specific soil type and a specific pH level. You can't just plant them anywhere. I learned it when I was studying in my Elementary school from my Science Teacher and I also learned it from my mother who is a farmer and also a vegetable vendor.

The dried leaves and stems that I collected and used to nourish my spinach, basils, and spring onions.

I used organic fertilizer such as animal manure from cows and goats, and I also used and mixed it on the soil the pieces of dried leaves and stems from the other plants that I trimmed. I cut it first into smaller pieces before mixing it on the soil.

In addition, I regularly check the moisture of the soil. It really gets dry very fast. Maybe it is because the water was absorbed by the plants and some of it evaporated fast to the atmosphere due to warm temperature in the surroundings.

It makes me decide to water them twice everyday this summer period. I water them early in the morning and in the late afternoon.

However, when it is not summer in my country, I only water my spinach, basil, and spring onions based on the moisture of the soil because too much moisture on the soil is not also good for their nourishment.

I arranged my spring onions in one area only and placed it in a corner where there is sunlight.

I took good care of my spinach, basil, and spring onions very well because it produces and provides us healthy food for free.

The spinach, basils, and spring onions that I harvested to cook for our lunch.

As I always heard from my grandparents when they are still alive and from the old folks in my previous village in the mountain, "You will only harvest what you have planted."

The phrase have a lot of meaning and it depends on how you understand, interprets, and apply it in a situation. As what I have understood from the phrase, and if I applied it in gardening, it means that the kind of attention and care we give to our plants especially the fruits and vegetables that provides us foods reflects on the amount of harvest and the quality of fruits and vegetables we will reap.

My Mother is gardening every morning and in the afternoon.

My beloved mother and my grandparents are my greatest mentors in gardening. My Mother always encouraged me to plant more vegetables to save money and on the other hand, is to eat healthy.

I have another basil seeds to plant given by my Mother.

She motivated me by giving me more vegetable seedlings and seeds of spinach and basil, and always supporting me when it comes to one of my passions in life, which is the gardening.

I also tried to influence my son in gardening by asking him to help me. I want him to learn on how to grow organic vegetables so that when he grew up and have his own family, he can provide healthy foods for his love ones, and also teach his kids on how to grow foods such as spinach, basil, spring onions, and more vegetables and fruits in their yard someday.

Vegetable and fruit gardening in our home gives us free, organic, safe, and healthier foods. Therefore, let us plant and eat fresh and nutritious foods without spending any penny by growing our own fruits and vegetables at home.

That would be all my blog for my healthy spinach, fragrant basils, and beautiful spring onions in my yard. Thank you for reading my blog and for always having my back.
