Nasturtiums
What cheerful, warm, and tasty flowers they are. These edible flowers grow on hearty, vigorous trailing vines. They can become a bit unruly sometimes, but I welcome any edible plants in my garden, the wilder the better! These are a variety of geranium, I think they’re Ivy Leafed pelargoniums. They are ivy vine like in their growth and are a beautiful fragrant ground cover. Mine pour out of the beds and down the rock walls, covering them.
Many geranium varieties are medicinal, are used in tea, and as a spice. I’m not sure about these ones. More research is necessary before I go making tea.
Bromeliads
This Aechmea fasciata (silver vase, or urn plant) is one of many bromeliads in my garden. Native to Brazil, it does well here in Hawaii, and is a popular, low maintenance landscape plant. It’s beautiful whether blooming or not.
The Wallisia cyanea, or (pink quill) is originally from the rainforests of Ecuador. I have some in trees like this one and some in the ground. The ones planted in dirt seem to multiply much faster. I was surprised to see this one blooming for the first time.

Thanks for spending some of your valuable time with me in the garden
Until next time, remember to #growyourown if you can, if not, #knowyourfarmer and always #choosefreedom
Dang my friend just barely got back from there.
And I definitely agree know your farmer and your food source!!!
You were here, or your friend was?
My friend was. I can't go to Hawaii with dog. They want to quarantine him for 90 days if I go. And that won't happen. Or I'd have went a while back.
It’s expensive and you have to do a lot of prep, but you can get the no quarantine for dogs. We did it. They basically do the rabies test and waiting period before you travel.
Yep. Yeah we are gonna work on things here. Maybe one day. Come visit and relax and enjoy some positive change for a while. And got some friends out there I miss.
Lots of wonderful looking plants and flowers! The first flower photos look cool, almost like a maple leaf is growing at the base of the flower there! That’s cool lol.
Those are some giant basil plants! I let me basil go completely flower and just recently took them down. The bees loved them that’s for sure!
Thank you. The basil plants aren’t as big as they seem in the pictures. The bees do absolutely love them.
Yeah perspective can change a picture lol.
The bees even followed my hand as it was taking the basil plant with some flowers on it to the trash pile lol
Oh, the bees worked so hard, did you save some seeds for next year?
