For sure. I've heard that about bananas before. I think it was in reference to avocados though. Something about putting them in a brown paper bag with a banana. I'm not a huge fan of banana flavored things, so I think I would be afraid that the smell would penetrate the avocado.

It's to do with the ethanol that they produce as they ripen I believe. They produce lots of it, which helps the tomatoes. I noticed a slight difference in taste but not much at all really.
