So the story behind i am adding Gymnocalycium Damsii Variegata to my collection. it happened around last month. when i am browsing and scrolling my facebook news feed, i found seller that selling out bunch of Gymnocalycium Damsii Variegata. At first sight, i am not to insterested to adding any collection to my garden right now. Why?? because i still dont have time to moving my shelf and plant rack from my brother house to my house. So, moving on i am closing the facebook and not buying anything. Time passed and i forgot about Gymnocalycium Damsii, and repeat my activities scrolling facebook again in my spare time. and this seller still up in my news feed and still not sold out and this time i am intereseting and drolling while looking this cactus. it doesn't take long to make me asking the price to the seller. After i am asking the seller i starting bargaining to the seller until i got the best price. after few days bargaining, finally i got the best price of this bunch of cactus. total i got around 17 pcs of Gymnocalycium Damsii Variegata.

Plants Arrived

After waiting almost a week finally my plants arrived. I just knew that the seller is not from same island. And the expedition taking around 5 days to arrive to my place. Thankfully Gymnocalycium Damsii Variegata is strong cactus,So, even the expedition take long the cactus is still alive. After the plants arrive still i am busy and cannot unboxing the cactus and need to wait around 3 days. And this cactus is so great after total 8 days no light and still on box, the plants are not dead at all. but some kid in their body got off due no sun and get shaken by the expedition.

Unboxing

Okay after waiting 8 days finally i have spare time and time to unboxing Gymnocalycium Damsii Variegata and see how good this plant.

Okay first of all this seller is pretty good i know how to packaging the cactus and succulent because i am seller once. but now, i dont know want to back to be a seller or not because now my backyard is not big enough to placing many cactus and succulent. Okay after looking this cactus package lets unboxing the tissue and looking what inside. it will take time and voila

image.png

Okay this is one of the Gymnocalycium Damsii Variegata. I think this is pretty good cactus, the root is still healthy and the body is healthy too. but due no sunrise and no water at all the colours of the variegata looks lethargic. but, it is okay after few weeks got sunrise and keep reguler watering the colours will be bright yellow and starting to turn orange in some yellow area

Okay this is some of Gymnocalycium Damsii Variegata, still looks fresh and healthy. I am hoping all of this bunch of cactus is variegata. Let's go plant them right now

Planting

Okay before planting this cacti, i need to make some growing media soil. I need some pumice stone.

image.png

okay second i need some of compost media.

image.png

Okay lets start mixing the growing media. not only pumice and compost. I am adding Cocopeat, roasted husk, and to protect the rot from bad fungi, i am adding Micoriza that is kind of good fungi that can help protect the root from bad fungi. after mixing it this is the growing media that i used to my cacti and succulent

image.png

Okay before planting i am looking some my cacti need to be replating and change the pot to be a bigger pot. but,in this sesion i am not take a picture. my hand is super dirty and get some cactus prickles and need to focus with the spine of my cactus. here some plant that i need to replant.

image.png

Basically i need to separate Dorstenia and my other cactus. Dorstenia Family is super fast growing that can use up all the nutrient in growing media by itself and make the cactus did not receive any nutrient and it will be super bad idea. Look at the picture the root of Dorstenia traverse the growing media soil. The bad of the dorstenia is the seed can thrown far away and growing anywhere if the soil is have good nutrient. So,two birds at the same time, while planting Gymnocalycium Damsii lets replant some cactus like this mother of Gymnocalycium Damsii Sp.

image.png

This is super mezmering, this is called rootporn.i need to separate the baby from mother body so the mother can still get biiger and can carry more baby than right now. after all the pot is not enough to contain this cactus anymore.

After replanting some plant i am starting to plant my Gymnocalycium Damsii Variegata. this time i am not taking any picture while planting it. my hands is full and cannot take a picture (maybe i am just enjoying planting and forgot to take a picture).

So this is the Gymnocalycium Damsii Variegata that i planted. The colour is like different than before maybe due the brightess of the evening sun make the colour of this cactus more lusting and vivid.
