Since I was out this morning, I decided to make myself an iced coffee when I got home, and took some photos for my garden journal. Cheers!
On the balcony, both the tomatoes and the summer-bearing strawberries are doing great. It’s such a joy to see them giving us something each day. This is the second harvest of the mysterious tomato I first picked last week, which tasted fantastic. This time, I’m planning to wait a bit longer before picking it so I can save the seeds.
Micro tomatoes, which usually bear fruit first, are a bit late this year, but I’m looking forward to harvesting them soon.
I absolutely love both the quantity and taste of these summer strawberries, so I’m thinking of propagating more plants. What I enjoy about gardening is how I can choose varieties that suit my environment and preferences, and grow not just plants but also the garden itself.
Seeing @aitommylr’s post about growing bush beans made me want to try them too! I planted them just before the end of the seed sowing season, and they’re thriving. I’m expecting my first harvest next week. It seems like climbing beans, like these, do really well on my balcony.
I love sitting on the balcony and looking up at the climbing plants; beans, morning glory, bitter melon and malabar spinach.
This week, two gardening books I ordered arrived. The one on the left in the photo below is about winter gardening, which I’ve been curious about for a while since I’d like to extend my growing season. The other one is about tomatoes that changed the world. I ordered it after an exciting dinner with my daughter, enjoying locally grown beefsteak tomatoes and marveling at how delicious they are. I’m looking forward to starting it tonight.
That’s all from my little balcony in the peak of summer. Wishing you all a lovely Sunday evening and a great start to the new week. Happy gardening 🌻
Happy gardening 🌻

Your tomatoes are beautiful, there are green and ripe ones, the climbing plants are very beautiful.
Thanks @petrica33. Ja, simply high summer with a lot of greens and fruits are nice 🌞 I must fully enjoy them as the German summer is not so long 😊
Wow - that book on tomatoes looks fascinating! I hope you can do a bit of a book review for us!
