Just realized I didn't get a picture of the signboard of the restaurant so using this instead; you can see my boss in the photo
Introduction
On Monday 9/9, I celebrated my birthday with my boss at Fei Fan Hotpot at the Main Place Mall. This is the second time going to Fei Fan Hotpot and I did blog about the first time before but that was at the SS15 courtyard. I'm trying a different location and trying the superior premium buffet!
Fei Fan Hotpot
Fei Fan Hotpot is a Hong Kong Style hotpot. They have 7 locations in Malaysia. The one I went to was the one at Main Place. The one here has less reviews but a higher rating than the courtyard one. I think this branch is a bit more new compared to the ss15 one because of that I went in with some confidence.
Food
As you can see, it's a buffet style. My boss and I got the super premium which came with all the meats! Usually, I wouldn't go for something so expensive but it was my birthday so I decided to splurge a bit since I'm not the type to spend money a lot so once in a while like this is ok for me.
We had the choice of three soups. I got the pork bone soup and my boss wanted the chicken soup and the three delicacies soup.
After getting the soup settled, I ordered a ton of meat. I ended up eating 6 plates of wagyu, 1 plate of angus beef, 2 plates of kurobuta pork, 2 plates of lamb and 1 plate of truffle dumpling, I also got some cabbage and lettuce to help digest the meat so I wouldn't have trouble going to the bathroom when the food wants to come out if you know what I mean. I also made my own sauce; I forgot what I put but I mixed quite a few number of things to create the sauce.
Ater I was done eating the meat, I ended the dinner with ice cream. I got the vanilla ice cream and put the oreo topping on top so basically I sort of got my own mcflurry.
This is not part of the dinner but later when I went home I had the yearly cringe birthday singing to remind myself I'm getting one year older! I had a bit of the tiramisu cake and the rest was for my sisters to eat and finish the day after.
Concluding Thoughts
The bill came out to be quite big (about $80 USD) since my boss ordered beer as well. I did not drink any of the bear; he drank both on his own and he didn't even seem tipsy at all. I actually ended up paying for this one since I didn't want him to put it under the company. Overall, I enjoyed the food. The staff there was well trained and gave a great service. The place was clean and pleasant to dine in. I loved the Chinese and Cantonese music playing to fit the vibe of the restaurant. Something that surprised me was their loyalty program. It just needed my phone number and they could link it and add points to it. I didn't need to register or fill any form with my name and other details. This is probably the best membership program I've seen a restaurant use. I can use those points later to redeem and get a discount the next time I eat there but they do expire after one year. I would definitely recommend trying this hotpot out if you're in Malaysia. Of course, I wouldn't recommend going for the super premium unless you can afford to.
Thank you for reading and the support. Please do share your eating out moments in the eating out community! Hoping to grow this community.
