Beginner tips for Pacific Drive, the game: Embrace Happy Hares!

in Hive Gaming12 hours ago

As you progress in the world of Pacific drive you are going to start to encounter a ton of other-worldly things and most of them are out to get you. Almost all of them are there specifically to damage you and your armored car.... almost all of them. There are certain things that will chase you down and attach themselves to your car and will continue to damage and eventually destroy the car if you don't remember them either with an EMP or by smashing them with some sort of tool. It can be kind of scary when this happens because it is really tough to shake them.

But there is one exception and initially I ended up killing these guys as well and I think that almost everyone did this when first encountering them as well.

My initial reaction to encountering really anything out in the field is to get the hell way from it and destroy it if I have to. This is because of the fact that everything out in the wild is there specifically to eliminate you, as you might expect. The "happy hare" looks just like other bounding metal scarp piles and the one you are more likely to encounter first is the bolt bunny or bouncing bunny.

These things are scary because they will somewhat relentlessly pursue your car and latch onto it, damaging it. The most irritating aspect is when they short out your headlights because this is something that is quite time consuming to repair in the field. So time consuming in fact that I started carrying a spare headlight with me when I travel.

The Happy Hare though, it appears to be doing the same thing but one time I decided to scan it instead of just killing it like I normally would have because my car had plenty of life and one thing that they always say is to scan anything new that you encounter because it helps to advance the story.

As it turns out, the Happy Hare actually REPAIRS any part of your car that it attaches to, and you can actually move it to other parts of your car so you can select what it is repairing. As far as I know, this is the only benevolent anomaly in the game but keep in mind that I am only about 50% of the way through the campaign.

I suspect that the person who posted this picture on Reddit might have PS'd it or AI'd it but if you are in fact capable of bringing a Happy Hare back to your garage or even better, bringing one with you on the next campaign that would be absolutely wonderful. I doubt that is the case though because you could just attach a bunch of these all over the car and you would basically become indestructible.

But anyway, the real point here is that most of the anomalies that you encounter, nice looking or gross, should be avoided. But the Happy Hare is your friend and it would just be mean to kill it now, wouldn't it?

As far as I can tell it will restore anything. metal, electronics, engines, windshields, headlights, just anything. What an amazing friend to have in this otherwise incredibly inhospitable landscape!

What type of fuel does that car use?
