Wow, I am a fan of this game. It got me excited to play it again.

Same here. I loved this game on SNES and cannot wait to see this new version at work with modern hardware powering it.

OMG! This port It is built on more than 80k lines of code o.O this represents a monumental job on the part of the developers.

By the way it's really cool that this port will be a highly optimized version of Link to the past itself.

Cool post, pal.

Regards.

My jaw dropped when I saw how many lines of code it took to make A Link to the Past. That may not sound like a lot today with developers that fall back on engines and such with unoptimized code or whatever but back then, the early 90's, I am sure that was A LOT of code.

What is even better about this port is, developers can add and remove things as they see fit and code them in. If someone was ingenuitive enough they could add a two player mode, new enemies, levels, etc.

The possibilities are almost endless.

Oh, I'm agree pal, a two players mode would be great for sure (y) .

I'll be watching for further developments on this project :)

So cool! I try to find where to download and try it! Probably torrent? I don't want to code 😂

Great post!

I am not a coder either so I rely on these ports quite a bit. Whenever possible, I make some kind of donation to help them out and to say thanks.

A Link to the Last on the SNES is very special to me. 4 swords on the GBA was also amazing on the go. Great to see these decomp projects getting completed.

Oh man, 4 Swords was a good one too. Zelda on Nintendo hardware doesn't really have a bad release that I can think of. That is amazing considering the different styles at play in various releases, the different challenges presented to players, etc.

Nintendo continue to do a great job with Zelda. Recently been enjoying Twilight Princess with darker undertones.

Oh yeah, Nintendo has been doing great with Zelda. Like darker undertones? Here, try these releases. Want a more light hearted adventure? Try these out.

I don't think any company has a franchise they can do that with outside of Nintendo. It is really a marvel that they have accomplished this.

It seems interesting, although I can't notice a change beyond having a greater visual field, maybe I need to play it to notice the mayor changes.

The embedded video is not a great showcase of the improvements. That was probably put together to show how close to the original it is. There is apparently widescreen support and more already among other improvements.

I am a 'HUGE' Legend of Zelda fan. This looks absolutely amazing!

It does look amazing. I really want to download it, set everything up, and see how it looks with some of the graphic enhancements they included turned on.
