I am a huge fan of Final Fight by Capcom. It was the first game I spent money on for the Super Nintendo. I got hooked after dropping quarters in any machine I could find at gas stations or arcades prior, and after, that purchase. The lack of Guy did not bother me in the SNES port because I was a Cody player, if I didn’t have much time to play, or much money, I of course used Haggar. I have never owned a Commodore Amiga but man, growing up, I wanted one. Thanks to emulation, paying outrageous prices for, and maintaining, a physical unit is no longer required. Thanks to the team at Prototron, fans of Final Fight can finally play an enhanced version with new characters.
Clean Up the City with Force
The story of Final Fight is a simple one. Mike Haggar, the mayor, has experienced his daughter being kidnapped. Seems the Mad Gear Gang are holding her hostage and potentially as collateral over Haggar’s head in exchange for him backing off and letting the Mad Gear continue their activities in the city.
Of course, Mayor Haggar cannot standby as his daughter, Jessica, is in danger like this. Nor can he give in and ruin his reputation with the citizens. He enlists the help of Cody, Jessica’s boyfriend, and Guy, to stop this once and for all.
In the original game, those were the three characters you could choose from.
Enhancing a Classic
Final Fight Enhanced Final Edition changes that by bringing in an additional character, Maki from Final Fight 2 on the Super Nintendo. This edition gives you a total of four fighters to choose from. Each has different attributes that does effect how easy/hard the game is. I am not sure what Maki’s are, but I do know the easiest original is Haggar and Guy was harder than using Cody.
Final Fight Enhanced Final Edition also changes the graphics a bit. Expanding the screen from 288 pixels wide to 320 as well as using new screen synchronization making it more stable across various Commodore Amigas.
Also, there are now more enemies on screen, new sound effects, etc.
I am excited to play this one when it is released. As of now, there is no demo or anything for Final Fight Enhanced Final Edition, though there may be one for older iterations.
I like a lot all the editions about this saga!
