Today I wanted to share something with the community, and out of nostalgia, I thought I'd talk a bit about Resident Evil 4, a game I'm very fond of for what it meant in my childhood. I wanted to do a sort of analysis from my perspective and share it with you. What makes it special and why does it remain a marvel after so many years? Well, here we'll look at some aspects to consider...

🇪🇸 A Rural Spanish Village

One of the biggest differences from its predecessors and subsequent installments is that Resident Evil 4 takes place in a Spanish village, a rural hamlet where its inhabitants have been infected by a parasite called Las Plagas. With scenes straight out of a horror movie - dilapidated cabins, castles and churches with gothic architecture, plus extremely dark nights - the game creates a fascinating atmosphere of tension and horror that serves as the perfect setting to develop its story.

👮 Characters

Leon S. Kennedy (now a government agent after being introduced as a rookie cop in Resident Evil 2) is on a rescue mission, specifically to save Ashley Graham (the president's daughter), who will always be remembered for her cries for help (sometimes annoying), but who is a fundamental part of the story. We also encounter memorable villains who add even more terror and meaning to the story, including Krauser (Leon's former partner), Osmund Saddler, and above all the one I remember most: Ramón Salazar, a sinister dwarf who owns a castle. This entire cast adds great richness to the narrative, making every player feel captivated by the story they build.

The precise laser-sight aiming was in my opinion revolutionary, giving the game a tactical aspect. Our inventory is a briefcase where every space is crucial - grenades or medkits? - requiring constant decision-making. There are also events where we must react quickly, whether dodging rocks or engaging in various fights. In my opinion, this is one of the most polished aspects of the game, where our skills are truly put to the test.

Resident Evil 4 is a great game that redefined this legendary Capcom franchise. Its terrifying atmosphere, magnificent characters, and gripping story immerse players in a unique and unforgettable experience. Thanks to its success, the game has been released on multiple platforms, including a recent 2024 remake, demonstrating its enduring appeal with both audiences and critics. In my opinion, it's one of the best horror games in history - one that can still be enjoyed despite being 20 years old, and that offers returning players moments full of nostalgia and fond memories.

Hoy quería compartir algo en la comunidad y desde la nostalgia se me ocurrió hablar un poco sobre Resident Evil 4, un juego que le tengo muchísimo cariño por lo que significó en mi infancia y que quería hacerle una especie de análisis desde mi opinión y compartirla con ustedes. Que tiene de especial y porque sigue siendo una maravilla despues de tantos años?, pues aquí veremos algunos aspectos a tomar en cuenta...

🇪🇸 Una aldea rural española

Una de las grandes diferencias con sus anteriores y posteriores entregas es que Resident Evil 4 toma como escenario un pueblo español, una aldea rural en la cual sus aldeanos han sido infectados por un parásito llamado La Plaga. Con escenas bastante común de una película de terror, con cabañas en mal estado, castillos e iglesias con arquitecturas gótica, ademas de noches demasiadas oscuras, el juego crea un ambiente de tensión y horror fascinante que funciona como un escenario perfecto para desarrollar la historia.

👮 Personajes

Leon S. Kennedy(siendo ahora un agente del gobierno después de ser presentado como un policía novato en Resident Evil 2) se encuentra en una misión de rescate, específicamente a Ashley Graham (hija del presidente) que será siempre recordada por sus gritos pidiendo ayuda llegando a ser molesto a veces, pero será una pieza fundamental en la historia. También contaremos con villanos memorables que le darán aún más terror y sentido a la historia, algunos de ellos son Krauser(excompañero de Leon), Osmund Saddler, y sobre todo el que más recuerdo Ramón Salazar, un enano siniestro dueño de un castillo. Todo este elenco aporta una gran riqueza a la narrativa haciendo que cada jugador se sienta capturado por la historia que construyen.

🎮 Gameplay

Con un apuntado preciso a través de miras láser a mi parecer fue algo revolucionario además de darle un aspecto táctico. Nuestro inventario sera un maletín, dónde cada espacio es muy importante, granadas o botiquines?, también incluye tener que tomar decisiones. También aparecerán eventos en los que tendremos que actuar muy rápido, ya sea esquivando rocas o en diferentes peleas. En mi opinión es uno de los aspectos más pulidos en el juego, donde nuestras habilidades se pondrán a prueba.

🧟‍♂️ Conclusión:

Resident evil 4 es un gran juego que redefinió esta gran saga de Capcom. Su terrorífica atmósfera, sus magníficos personajes y su historia atrapan al jugador en una experiencia única e inolvidable. Gracias a su éxito este juego ha sido lanzado en múltiples plataformas y con un remake reciente del 2024, por lo que demuestra su aceptación tanto por el público como por la crítica. En mi opinión es de los mejores juegos de horror de la historia, que se puede seguir disfrutando a pesar de tener 20 años y el que lo vuelve a jugar puede disfrutar de momentos llenos de nostalgia y buenos recuerdos.
