RE: Upgrading my system's graphics card from RX 580 4gb to a RX 5700 XT.

Great update bro, congrats and hopefully it performs well for you for a long time. I enjoyed reading the explanation throughout the post, a while back I read about what you mention about the daisy chained PCI connector and that it shouldn't be done, but I didn't hear anything about it again some time later.

I love the little toy sitting on the graphics card, but I've always had a question with that doesn't the heat melt it over time?

Thank you! I hope it lasts long too, My next target would be 16GB VRAM GPUs and that will take a while.

yeah daisy chaining a power connector is dangerous. like what if you vcard was to pull 200 watts on a 150-watt cable. it will either blow up the psu fuse or make the gpu faulty.

hehehe the toy doesn't melt (as long as the case if properly ventilated), but I don't recommended putting objects on top of the videocard, because videocards tend to sag due to the weight increase.

the temperature sensor is at the gpu die and not the air around it, but yes it's hot on full load. now it sits at 70C on full load once I installed the new case fans.

Thank you! 😊
