I Defeated Every World Boss in Diablo 4 Hardcore

in Hive Gaming2 years ago (edited)

The achievements just keep stacking up for me in Diablo 4. One of my latest achievements that I'm quite proud of comes from beating all of the current world bosses on Hardcore difficulty. It's a bit of an anticlimactic achievement given hos easy these bosses actually are but it's an achievement nonetheless.

What are World Bosses in Diablo 4?

World bosses are one of the end game activities that you unlock upon completing the campaign. These are huge bosses that spawn every few hours somewhere in the world signaled by a flashing icon on the map. There's three og them and they are meant to be some of the most challenging enemies in the game. Emphasis on meant to be because in reality they are not.

The difficulty on these world bosses are way to low in my opinion. The first time I went to fight one of them I was feeling extremely nervous. I loaded myself up with an Iron Skin Elixir to up my armor by 900 for extra damage reduction and even popped an Elixir of Death Evasion just incase things went totally bad. I was completely taken aback by how easy they were to defeat. All three of them. I basically took no damage during all of the fights and I even purposely tanked a few attacks just to see how much damage I would take. A giant ground smash barely took away 5% of my health.

Now it is a bit of an asshole move to say that they were that easy seeing as four people actually died and lost their characters on the first world boss I killed. That was the Wandering Death that's pictured up above. From what I've gathered he is looked at as the hardest world boss in the game and I can definitely see why after fighting him a few times now. He has some nasty laser beams as well as bone prisons that he traps you in that will pretty much instantly kill you unless you manage to break out. At least if you're running a glass cannon built. I was not man enough to try and tank one of these.

A good build can do wonders

I do think a lot of my success with these world bosses comes from my build. Since I'm playing on Hardcore I am heavily favoring defensive traits from my skill tree and on my gear. I have almost capped out my armor stat which is giving me over 80% damage reduction and I imagine this is something that those people who died didn't have. I am not one to tempt fate when a single death means that my character is dead forever.

Another thing that's quite interesting is that once I switched over to the World Tier 3 difficulty these bosses became even easier to kill. They died faster and I felt like I took even less damage from them. I think this comes down to two things. First off there's a huge power spike once you enter world tier 3 and start getting sacred gear. This can basically pump your damage up by 50% just from one single item. Secondly since getting into world tier 3 is a bit late in the game and you need to beet a skill check (capstone dungeon) to get there the players in world tier 3 are most likely better and more serious about their hardcore characters. Speculation of course but I think I'm on to something here.

Butchering the Butcher

As an added bonus I was also able to take down the Butcher a few days prior to taking out that last world boss. The Butcher is an extremely dangerous boss that can randomly spawn in any dungeon that you do. He has seen to the death of many a hardcore character since Diablo 4 launched. Those who have played Diablo 1 and Diablo 3 might recognize him from there as he has been a recurring boss through the series.

I've been terrified to see him, especially in the low levels while I was still building my character, but when I saw him spawn a few days ago I was quite excited to test my build against him. He went down quite easily and my health barely dipped below 90% during the whole fight. Yet another achievement that I'm happy to have ticked off the list.

I hope that they keep adding more content like this to the game as time goes by. I would love to see more world bosses being added with the upcoming seasons and I would love to see some harder world bosses than the ones we currently have. I'm sure that it will be the case as it would be pretty strange for them to just add these three with the base game and then leave the entire activity in the dust.

We might get some info about that on the 6th of July. The developers have scheduled a live stream for that date where they will announce season 1. I'm quite excited to see what they have in store for us and I really hope they take the game in the right direction.

I guess we now have a lot of games that I have not heard of
I'm hearing of this game for the very first time

You commented on a post of mine about this game before lol

That is awesome that they put the Butcher in there. I recall how terrifying encountering him was back in D1.

You have really moved along on this game. It seems like there is little left for you to accomplish.
