New DBD Controls

in Hive Gaming3 years ago (edited)

Hi Hive,

Im back! In my video this week we’re looking at the new wiggle controls in Dead by Daylight. Whilst the killer is transporting a survivor to the hook, you have the opportunity to wiggle to escape. Previously this was done by pressing two different buttons alternately, however you know have the opportunity to wiggle by using skill checks instead.

At first I wasn’t sure on the new controls, as it felt much more intense trying to hit the skill checks every time. This is because these skill checks happen far more quickly than regular skill checks. As the wiggle system is such a small part of the game, I didn’t really focus on this that much, because let’s be honest, who wants to sit and watch someone wiggling for 10 minutes straight? Instead I just focused on making a normal video, and just highlighted any of the new controls as and when it was appropriate. Truth be told, I wasn’t so sure what to record, I just didn’t want to make a killer video at the time😂.

So if you hadn’t gathered already, I was playing as a survivor in my video. I was playing as Meg Thomas, for no other reason than I still have lots of unused items and offerings with her. My perk build is pretty much my go-to build for survivors. Perk number one is Lithe. When you fast vault over a window or pallet, you then take off into a sprint at 150% your normal movement speed for 3 seconds. After using this perk, you then get the exhausted status affect for 40 seconds. This is quite a useful perk for escaping a chase with the killer or even getting to a new area to loop round of the previous area becomes unsafe. My second perk was iron will. This perks reduces grunts of pain by 100% whilst you are injured. This is quite useful for sneaking around whilst injured, and also means the killer has one less sound to track you with. Although they’ll still probably be able to head your footsteps, so you should still be careful.

My third perk is resilience. This perk allows me to perform actions quicker whilst I’m injured. This is particularly useful for vaulting. But I’ll explain why after I explain why after my last perk, that being spine chill. This perk activates when the killer is looking in your direction within a 36 meter radius. Whilst active, it also increases the speed in which you perform the various actions in the game, including vaulting. You can probably see why this synergies so well with resilience. In total, when both these perks are active I believe the total speed increase is about 10%, which doesn’t sound like much, but 9 times out of 10, it can be the difference between getting hit whilst vaulting a window or making a clean escape.

All in all, the new controls don’t make that much of a difference to the gameplay in general, but I think it’d overall a good change for the game.
