Hello 👋🏽
A quick PSA before I begin: sorry it took so long to get this second edition out. Yet again I had trouble with saving drafts on Ecency and have had to write a few sections multiple times. That and I had trouble with the game updating so I couldn't get screenshots straight away 😅.
I’m back with the second instalment of Into The Fog. This article will be featuring The Wraith.
Ok, the boring stats first. Wraith is another tall killer, and moves at 4.6m/s when uncloaked and 6m/s when cloaked, (I’ll explain the difference later). His terror radius is 32 meters. Wraith is the second member of the original killer trio.
Wraith is all about tracking and hunting the survivors, making it easier to catch and kill them. Wraith is a stealth killer, but not in a typical sense. Other stealth killers, such as Michael Myers or The Ghostface will sit and watch from a distance before going in for the kill. The Wraith, however is able to render himself completely invisible with the use of his wailing bell. From 20 meters he will remain invisible. Any closer than that, and you’ll be able to see his distorted figure as he moves closer. You’ll also be able to hear his snarl once he gets to a certain distance as well. Using Wraith’s power is as simple as pressing M2. He starts the game cloaked, allowing him to whiz about the map and locate the survivors. Upon uncloaking he will hit his wailing bell, (alerting any survivors within 24 meters of his general location), and then gain a short burst of speed. This can sometimes allow you to hit a lunge attack that you may not usually be able to hit. Upon cloaking or uncloaking, any survivors within a 40 meter radius will be alerted to it by a loud “whoooosh” sound, (yes that is how the DBD wiki describes it). So from how I've described him, Wraith probably seems pretty overpowered. However whilst he is cloaked, Wraith is actually weak to lightburn. Survivors are able to shine a flashlight at him, (albeit this takes a few seconds), or detonate a firecracker/flash grenade near him which will stun him and force him to uncloak.
So, lets go straight into his perks. Perk number 1 is Predator. Scratch marks left by survivors spawn closer together. Now, the literal only reason I can think of for using this perk, would be to get Wraith's adept achievement. Let's just move on shall we. Perk number 2 is Bloodhound. When a survivor is in the injured or dying state, they will occasionally leave pools of blood. Using Bloodhound makes said blood pools bright red. It also allows blood to be tracked for 4 seconds longer than normal. Now I'll be honest. I have had games where I've not played very well, and not been able to track survivors efficiently, and on occasion this perk has come in useful. Despite this, I would still say that this is a perk best suited for newer players; good players won't need the extra help of tracking the survivors. The last perk is Shadowborn. This perk literally increases your field of view by 15 degrees. I guarantee you won't notice the difference unless you compare them side-by-side.
So if you couldn't tell, I'm not particularly keen on Wraith's teachable perks. I would however, now like to import a segment where I talk about a few perks that are useful with Wraith. The first perk I'll feature is Save the Best for Last. I won't lie, I love this perk on pretty much every single killer, so I'll try not to feature it too much. I have explained this perk in a previous post so I won't go into too much detail now, but in a nutshell, hits=tokens. 8 tokens=40% cool-down reduction on successful attacks. I've featured STBFL on Wraith, because the only way he can damage the survivors is with a basic attack, so why not get rewarded for it? Featured perk number 2 is Sloppy Butcher. Wounds inflicted by basic attacks cause survivors to suffer from the haemorrhage and mangled status effect. This two effects cause the survivors to bleed more often and takes them longer to heal. I've featured this perk because, it can actually combo quite well with Bloodhound. The survivors taken longer to heal also works well with Wraith's traditional 'run and gun' play style; hit a survivor, and then immediately injure another survivor etc. The last perk that I'll feature is Nurse's Calling. This perk, also combos with Bloodhound and Sloppy Butcher. The auras of survivors, who are healing or being healed, are revealed to you when they are in a range of 28 meters. Imagine the scene, your playing as Wraith. Your cloaked. Everyone is injured and you see the auras of two survivors healing themselves a short distance away. As the meme goes: "It's free real estate".
Right then. Interesting add-ons. I'm going to mention these first two add-ons as a combo pairing. The first one is "The Ghost" - Soot, which is actually only a common add-on. The second one is Coxcombed Clapper. The Ghost suppresses your terror radius and red stain for 6 seconds after uncloaking. Coxcombed Clapper totally silences the wailing bell. Do I really need to explain this pairing? Ok then. Free hits for days. Add-on number 3 is "All-Seeing" - Blood. When cloaked, the auras of Survivors are revealed to you within 8 meters of your location. This perk is particularly useful for the indoor maps, as essentially you have free wall hacks. The last add-on is "Swift Hunt"- Blood. This reduces uncloaking time by 12%. This can be useful in situations where the survivors might just vault a window or throw a pallet down just before you can hit them.
I guess all that’s left to talk about is how I personally feel about The Wraith. Honestly, I have a lot of mixed feelings towards this character. Being one of OKT, means that survivors have had a long time to be able to adapt their play style against this killer, and a lot of the meta survivor perks,(yes boon totems, I’m looking at you), actively disrupt a hit & run play style, which is really the most efficient way to play as Wraith. I’m not saying it’s impossible to get 4 kills in the current meta, I’m just saying more often than not, I get 2 kills that I have to work hard for. Using his strong addons is so much fun, because it adds so much more to your power, especially the ghost soot and coxcombed clapper as the survivors won’t here or see you coming. But I do feel like I quite heavily rely on these addons to consistently get 4ks.
Despite this, I do believe that Wraith is a fun killer to play, even if all you wanna do is go around jump scaring people. I still play as Wraith fairly frequently with mixed rates of success, but all in all he is a fairly capable killer and I do enjoy playing as him…most of the time. I hope you enjoyed reading, and the only thing left to say is that is lore is below if you’re interested in reading it.
Philip Ojomo came to this country without anything than hope for a new beginning. He was happy as he got offered a job at Autohaven Wreckers. A small scrap yard where bribed cops turned a blind eye for the somewhat shady business that took place.
Ojomo didn't care. He had seen criminal activity up close in his homeland and as long as he didn't get involved, he let things be. He just fixed cars and handled the crusher. Something he did really well. A car went in and a small, metallic cube came out.
It was not until one gloomy day that he, just by accident, saw some blood coming from one of the un-crushed cars. As he opened the trunk he found a young man, gagged and with tied hands with panic filled eyes. Ojomo freed the man who managed to run ten feet before Ojomo's boss stopped him and slit his throat. As Ojomo demanded answers he got explained to him that he'd been nothing more than a simple executioner as more or less every car had a soul in them as this was a "service" the scrap yard provided to certain "clients".
Ojomo snapped and went ballistic. He threw his boss in the crusher and let it slowly compress, as the head stuck out, Ojomo grabbed it and pulled head and spine out of the body. Then he left and was never seen again.
I never played Dead by Daylight, as I don't play multiplayer games and I'm (usually) not a fan of horror. But I love the effort put into this!
Since this is the 2nd post in the series, I'd love if the first post was linked somewhere in it as well. I had to explore your account page to find it.

Hey, not being into horror is absolutely ok. Good shout about linking the previous post, I’ll bear that in mind next time 👍🏽

Hey buddy! That's very weird what happened to you while using Ecency, do you usually make the posts on your phone? Or do you use Ecency from the computer? I would totally recommend Peakd. I personally consider it the best front-end in Hive and I'm completely sure it won't give you any problems :)
I use both to be honest. There were times where it didnt save, and at one point, I logged onto my computer to continue and it had actually saved it, but not in the drafts, so I couldn’t access ot from my phone. It was really weird. 😬
