After playing for almost 3 hours, here is my honest review of my latest played title, Timelie.
Timelie is an indie adventure-puzzle game that was released on steam earlier this year. The developer behind the game, Urnique Studio is a Thailand based Indie game studio.
I installed the game today morning and played it around 2 hours so far; below is my honest review about the game.
Timelie starts with a little girl trapped in a some kind of abstract cyberpunk world.
Beginning of Timelie
Our protagonist can move through portals, which leads her to different parts of a level. We have to complete various puzzles to make progress. After playing for around five minutes, we find out that our protagonist can control time. The player can revert broken things to their previous state by manipulating time to move forward in the game.
Fixing a broken Bridge
There are robots who can capture the player if detected. The game requires the player to avoid the robots while making progress in the game.
The protagonist can take action depending on what's going on through the time, once the player manipulates time and validates the action, the protagonist carries out the predetermined actions and makes progress. However, the amount of time the protagonist can move through is finite for each scene. The protagonist can move forward and backward in time for an unlimited time within that specified timeframe. See the screenshot below; the white line is the available time the player may move through.
Timelie features a timeline through which the protagonist can moveforward and backward in time
At the end of Chapter One, the protagonist retrieves what looks like a souvenir and places it on a small chamber.
This deicts the end of chapter one, the massive clock in front of us start ticking and the second door to enter chapter 2 opens. And, that's where I am right now, at the beginning of chapter 2.
Beginning of chapter two
Timelie takes interactive puzzles to another level. The soundtracks are well suited to the environment of the game. I was so intrigued by the soundtrack that I closed the game after first 10 min. of playing only to say thanks to the developer on Twitter
Rating
Gameplay: 10/10
Soundtrack: 10/10
Control: 7.5/10 (The reason I'm not giving a 9 or 10 is because the game doesn't support playing with a Controller which is a huge let down for me)
Overall: 9.5/10
