Too bad about the endgame boredom the idea of building a dyson sphere sound interesting, maybe the game would need some enemies or antagonist to spice up things?
On this note have you tried Frostpunk? The tropes seems really similar to this though you have the cold as an adversary, I keep looking at it but I have never bought it

Yes, I have played Frostpunk. I really loved how crazy it got towards the end where you are more or less just sitting there watching and hoping to make it.
Even more fun the lights on my keyboard would change colors according to what was going on in the game. Which added a nice element.
I will have to give a spin to this kind of games is a long time I don't play this styles. Dyson sphere program is a shorter expirience in that sense I imagine as the mechanics dosn't develop after a certain point
