Blockchain-based games are one of my passions but they will never make the leap to approach the most popular Web 3 games if they do not understand that it is the enjoyment of human players that is the base on which to focus for medium to long term success, even from the perspective of tokenomics.
Splinterlands is an example of a game that has structured and fun gameplay that would still have so much potential to attract new players but this potential is greatly reduced by the current Modern Format (human players only) and Wild Format (bots and wild pass) division
If I had the power to decide I would eliminate bots right away leaving only Splinterlands proprietary bots to increase game liquidity but since there is no consensus on this point I thought of a possible improved solution related to ranked formats.
Obviously my opinions are personal and therefore not shareable but I will continue to share my idea of what the structure of ranked play should be:
- Modern Format: human players only + eventual liquidity bots owned by Splinterlands
- Wild Format: human players only + eventual liquidity bots owned by Splinterlands
- Bot Format: private bots and human players + Wild Pass.
I am considering whether to create an SPL proposal for this format split but the only thing stopping me is that I am afraid it will not be approved and my disappointment would be too much...
For me, this division would be a good step forward to restore value to the gameplay and reemphasize human players.
By the way it is an absurdity to me that a human player like me who enjoys playing only against human players like him is forced to use only cards of the last two sets.
Currently on Splinterlands a human player who wants to use his beta and untamed cards in play is forced to play against bots and also has to pay 2000 DEC for the Wild pass.
Sorry for my slightly long comment but when I find players who have the same thought as me about bots and automatons I am happy because paradoxically on Splinterlands some big stakeholders and even yabapmatt don't seem to care that the beautiful and fun gameplay of Splinterlands is being turned into an idle game by allowing bots...
thanks for this post
