Hello dear community... Welcome once again to another gaming delivery from my property. On this occasion I bring you a brief review of Dino Crisis (PlayStation), I hope you like it and that you enjoy reading the post :) make yourself comfortable and let's get started.

"Dino Crisis" is a game created by Mr. Shinji Mikami; developed and distributed by CAPCOM for the PlayStation, the Sega dreamcast and the PC. This was in the middle of 1999.
Indeed, the name of Shinji Mikami sounds familiar to all of us because he is the same person who made us happy for two decades with the first deliveries of the saga "RESIDENT EVIL".

Let's go with a little of their story

The story of DINO CRISIS tells the adventures of a group of special agents who are sent to an island to investigate the twisted experiments of a mad scientist named Kirk. As the resident's scientist you will remember, he was the one who developed the G virus; we will be controlling a beautiful lady named Regina, of whom at first not much is known but who little by little is revealing herself a little about her motivations and her role within the game; I can't tell you the whole story so as not to commit some kind of spoiler with respect to all those who have never been able to play this title, what is important for you to know to start venturing into the dark corridors of DINO CRISIS is that this scientist named Kirk found a way to bring the dinosaurs of the past into the present through a project called "Third Energy".

My personal opinion about Dr. Kirk's crazy idea
It is more than obvious that when you come up with the "GREAT" idea of bringing in some velociraptors from the past, to have them visit your office, the most logical thing is that the following happens:
May the sons of bitches swallow you and all those who dare to get in their way xD

GAMEPLAY
Although it doesn't seem like it, gameplay is the most interesting part of the game, since it manages to transmit that feeling of "horror", which, although it's based mostly on the impotence generated by the tank type controls, it also adds to this the scarce ammunition, the scenarios and the enemies that when you empty the five bullets you carry, they're still standing and more aggressive, which will make you do nothing but grit your ass and teeth to run away from there, open a door just to meet another more aggressive enemy. And that's how the game will awaken your masochistic side and make you want to keep playing.

The setting is carried out inside an installation full of dark corners, walls full of blood, corpses, destruction and everything obviously with little light, I can say that sometimes this becomes a little tired, it is understood that being a game of dinosaurs one would like to go out to the jungle and meet the characteristic vegetation and wild animals, but sadly this is not the case, the truth is that there are very few occasions in which you will go out to the outskirts and if you do it will be only to open another door and return to the same facilities, really there are very, very few changes of atmosphere and in general this can be one of the weakest points of the game.

The variety of enemies is something that also leaves much to be desired, since all the time you will find yourself fighting with velociraptors, and farther ahead in the game you will be confronted with some pterodactyls and other dinosaurs that I sincerely do not know their name, but I swear to you that they seem to be full of steroids. Also sometimes we will meet the Tyrannosaurus Rex that surely in some situations will make our lives impossible.
The amount of weapons is not their strong point either since you will only find the typical gun, a shotgun that can vary between normal cartridges, tranquilizer darts and lethal darts, a grenade launcher and... That's all xD
The difficulty of the game is excellent and definitely the best thing of this delivery are the puzzles since these are entertaining to realize, frustrating and very creative, in fact if you do not stop to read the manuals of security that you find during the game, there will be moments in which you will not know where to go or how to open a door.

GRAPHICS
Graphically the game looks good for its time, looking better than the first installment of resident evil but at times feeling slightly inferior to resident evil 2. In Dino Crisis we find some funds generated in real time, perhaps at first glance can impoverish the final look, but the final product does nothing but add spectacularity to the development that is simply general which leads to increased tension and drama of the action.
The graphic engine is at the height of what can be expected, the camera movements are great, putting the terror in your body and making you shake when necessary. There is nothing better than a camera movement at the right time to bring out the dinosaur on duty by attacking you so that your nerves are put to the test.

SOUND
Music is an element that accompanies very well that feeling of anguish and tension. If the cameras also provide realism and tension, the music provides the necessary drama to make the whole image plus the sound as impressive as possible. The background music hardly exists and only enters when it is necessary to emphasize some fact or action, the rest of the time we will only hear our steps and the noises of the dinos.

My final verdict on the game
Dino Crisis is a great game, we can say that it is an almost cloned version of Resident Evil, but improved in many aspects, although I can also say that it is much easier to face a couple of zombies than some velociraptor sons of whores who don't even let us breathe to shoot them. The graphic engine is very good, however I must say that not everything is good in it, being all in 3D, you don't see differences between the objects that can be picked up or not, so sometimes we will be walking around like assholes trying to find all the objects in a room. Even so, it is worth to go through what is necessary, because the advantages of everything in 3D are many more than the same disadvantages that exist in this good title. And finally, for those who want to venture into Dino Crisis, remember to have pencil and paper at hand because you're going to need them for the amount of keys, names and codes that you'll be getting throughout the game.
