I'm ready for Spring! (dCrops)

in Hive Gaming2 years ago (edited)

Seasons just changed in #dCrops (not to mention all new skills like cooking and crafting coming really soon and my beta packs to open).

Quests

Now that I know a bit more what I'm doing, I decided to work on getting my first quest chest. Each season, you can get completely new quests. Most will be related to crops you can plant that season. It's partially luck based, though, so like me, you could have some off-season crop goals. After doing two re-rolls, here's my quest list:

I don't have much experience to base this on, but I consider this a fairly lucky roll. For a small farmer like me, having overlapping quests (e.g. I have two quests of "Plant 1 Kale seeds") makes it a lot easier to get rewards. I have 2 quests (wheat and tomato) that are out of season, but they are summer crops, so I'll knock them out next season.

My Farm

My little pride and joy. Legendary seed (strawberry) in a legendary plot should produce a ton for me this season! It's also nice to see the hi-tec land has shot up in price, so my wallet is happy.

I've got my 4 Cauliflower planted, which will knock off both my "harvest 3" and "harvest 4" cauliflower quests. After harvesting the broccoli, I'll put in the Kale seed, which will knock at those 2 quests, too.

Packs

I dipped my toe in a bit more and picked up 5 more beta packs last night. This was after reading this article about all the new types of NFTs that would be included.

I'm still not sure whether to open them all or hold on to some (packs give you 2000 crop power each). Any advice from big farmers out there? @acidyo what are you doing with your packs?

Conclusion

It's a fun little game on the HIVE blockchain, and I got started with a small portion of the capital I've built up just by being active on peakd and hive. There are contests almost daily to win seed NFTs (follow @arpuch to see when they are posted). It doesn't take a lot of time (unless you go nuts and buy a ton of land and seed!). It's also really cheap to get started. Give it a try!

Goddamnit I forgot to harvest my cabbages. I blame @incublus

I was ready to be your farmer slave but you don't want it. What can I do? 🤷‍♂️

I'm not giving you my active key :P

I am not going to do anything else with it, and you know that. Anyway I'm already busy with my own farm :P

Hey I'm just a starter and you are big farmer. That's not fair

But he doesn't have my hi-tec land! (I won it lol)

oh no!!!

Wow, you got lucky with the legendaries. Just so you know, i have 3 quest now (Plant 4/3/3 Kales) and I had to plant 10 kales in total to complete them, so you probably need 3 more cauliflower to complete those quests, might need to reroll.

Oh damn! Thanks for the heads up, though!

I am not sure if I asked before, but what is the Buy in cost on this one, to get things going?

The basic plot of land is like 2 HIVE (~$1). Basic seeds are 50 cents ish. Things are expensive in the legendary range. Legendary seed is like 40 hive while the leggy land was 60 hive and is now 90. I won my land in a contest, but I did spring for the seed. Getting started with a few plots and basic seeds is really cheap.

need to go back to it and understand better the game and it's tokenomics, to understand the ROI and how much it takes for the game to start paying for itself, I am doing that with Rising Star, bought like 40 HIVE to give me a nice boost in the game, in that one, feels like the ROI is about 100-150 days

For me, dcrops is more about supporting the hive community and playing a fun little game. It is also super early, so any ROI is most likely just going to come from appreciation of assets. But, like I said, I'm not trying to treat this one as an investment.

it looks pretty fun, but I'm seeing that you have to invest to play it, is there any way to play for free?

Not that I know of. You can get started for ~$1-$2 though if you just want a little plot of land and some seeds. I highly recommend getting into the contests for chances at extra value. I won that broccoli and the leggy land from contests.

Woww ... maybe this is one of the most interesting games on the hive blockchain, because I see this game is almost similar to the HayDay Game. @kstreet 😁👍
