I Bought myself a game recently, and I think it's the first thing I've actually bought for myself in a fairly long time.
This game often pops into my head, it's one that my uncle had years ago, and as a child, I remember playing it, but admittedly, I can't remember a whole lot about it.
It arrived the other day and only cost me €8 including postage.
The game itself is in great shape, as is the box, and I'm really looking forward to playing it again.
It's a tactical shooter, similar to the type of games Tom Clancy titles are known for.
This one puts you in command of 3 squads, and before each level, you have to work out a route for each squad to take. As the game starts you are put in control of one of the squads and have to lead the rest of your team around the level.
Here is the starting screen, where you can choose who to bring with you, as well as what equipment to use.
I'm sure there are a lot of elements to this game which flew right over my head as a kid, and with that being said, I'll probably find a whole new type of enjoyment out of it now that I'm older and can actually understand what this game is all about.
Back then, my favourite aspect of this game was the map selection screen, where essentially you're briefed on the fact that some terrorist group or gang has taken over a facility and you need to get your people in there, rescue the hostages, and basically clear the entire level of baddies.
Planning the route each squad will take is so much fun, and adds a lot to the enjoyment of the game, especially when you take control of your own squad and follow the route you previously mapped.
There are moments when you have to decide how to pass through doors, you can either breach it, go in guns blazing, or go it slow by having one of your people toss a stun grenade before continuing.
It's easy for things to go array and for people to get lost along the way, and you get points deducted for that, and the particular people who die can't be used in further maps, meaning that the more people that die the harder the game gets due to the next people having a lack of experience.
I bought multiple video games with the "Sold Out" name on it in my childhood.
I had many good games on CD/DVD.
Nowadays I no longer have any of them.
I moved from one house to another multiple times in the previous 10 years, and many things lost during/between these movings.
Currently I do not even have a PC/laptop.
