World of Warcraft: The War Within — Mount farming adventures!

in Hive Gaming3 months ago

The latest expansion of World of Warcraft was released just a week or so ago, and I've been living and breathing this world through the eyes of my little warrior.

After completing the campaign and getting Mythic Dungeon Ready for when the first season starts, I've been focusing on a highly important activity: MOUNT GATHERING. xD

There are three mounts that I can get through excessive farming. That is: murdering creatures over and over and over until I get special items that I can then exchange for cool new mounts.

The first one I aimed to get was this cute little buzzy bee.

In order to get the cute little buzzy bee, I needed to murder bees and wolves a good thousand or so times in order to get 900 pollen with which I would use to buy the bee.

I didn't mind this too much! My character is a skinner, so I would join farming groups who were also after the bee and who also wanted leather, and I ended up making a good 200,000 gold just from selling leather!

It also helps that I could rarely find some Hot Honeycomb, which I need for cooking Strength-based recipes. And it's in the area where super rare things could drop for another mount I was hoping to get.

Alunira.

Alunira is a beautiful storm gryphon who roosts upon a thunderous mountain. In order to obtain this lovely creature, you need to collect ten 'crackling shards' and create a Storm Vessel. Once you have the Storm Vessel, you can break Alunira's shield, fight her, then claim her as your own.

Alunira took tens of hours for me to obtain. I killed so many bees and wolves (and Nerubians for another mount). And finally. I got my tenth shard.

At the time I was in a group of random fellow Aussies who were all pleased as punch for me! 😁 And I zoomed straight to the creature and claimed my prize.

She's so pretty.

Last but not least is Beledar's Spawn.

I wasn't really going out of my way to get this. In fact, my partner wants it more than I do. xD

Every few hours in Hallowfall, the crystal in the sky darkens to a vibrant purple and a great creature spawns. Hundreds and thousands of people descend upon this creature, hoping to obtain this freaky looking mount.

And I got it.

Muahahhaa!

There's one last mount I'm farming for. It also seems to be the most painful one that I'm a bit burnt out on and have semi-decided to just get the materials for it as I get them... at least until a sudden burst of motivation appears.

First I needed to kill a good 6000 Nerubians for 1500 pieces of Nerubian Chitin.
Now I'm halfway through killing another 5000 for 1000 drops of Nerbubian Venom.
Next I'll need to kill another 5000 for 500 drops of Nerubian Blood.

You'd think that all Nerubians would have chitin, venom, and blood... but you'd be wrong. I'll kill a group of 12 Nerubians, and get 2 drops of venom. Yaaaay.

So I guess I'll get this last mount whenever I get it. xD

Still. Three new mounts in a week! Plus, of course, one no-name mount from finding all the glyphs and a crocolisk from the Monthly Trading Post.

Most of all I'm super stoked to have gotten Alinura! This is totally my favourite mount in a long while. She has replaced my delightful Ashes of A'lar for the time being. 😁

Until next time! 😊🎮

Sort:

I got the bee myself, and through doing that farm I only got 1 Crackling Shard. It's gonna take some time.

It's gonna take some time.

Definitely! I was fairly lucky with my drops, but I had gotten my hopes up thanks to people's comments on Wowhead.

Things like: "I got it after 4 hours of farming!" - "9 hours for me!"

Then it goes and takes me daaaaaaaays of farming, haha. XD In groups, I would see other people loot crackling shards and I was just. Ugh. Where's mine?
