Hello, Pokémon TCG Pocket friends!
Another week has gone by, and it hasn’t been the luckiest one for me. I still haven’t managed to get Pidgeot EX, even after spending a lot on booster packs and magical choices. However, I’m not losing hope, this is the only card I need to complete the entire Mythical Island collection of regular cards.
As I promised in my previous post, today I’m going to talk about a deck that’s currently dominating as the Top 1 in all tournaments. And yes, it’s none other than Gyarados EX and Greninja.
We’ll see how versatile this deck can be and how, once Gyarados EX is deployed with enough energy, it becomes nearly unstoppable. Additionally, it’s one of the most popular decks among top players because it eliminates the randomness of coin flips during matches.

Hola una semana más amigos de Pokémon TCG Pocket, ha sido una semana en la que me ha faltado la suerte. Sigo sin poder conseguir a Pidgeot EX y eso que he gastado mucho en sobres y elecciones mágicas. Aún así no pierdo la esperanza, solo me falta esta carta para tener toda la colección de Isla Mítica de cartas normales.
Como os prometí en mi anterior post en éste voy a hablar de un mazo que está el TOP 1 en todos los torneos y no es otro que el Gyradaos EX y Greninja.
Veremos lo versátil que puede llegar a ser y cómo una vez tenemos desplegado a Gyradaos EX con la suficiente energía es prácticamente imposible de parar. Además es uno de los mazos más usados entre los mejores jugadores porque evitamos tener que jugar con el azar de lanzar monedas.
Empecemos con el análisis.
GYRADAOS EX & GRENINJA DECK
This deck is known for being a bit slow, as we need to pass several turns before we can start attacking the opponent. For that reason, we’ll use cards that force the opponent to either hold off on attacking or proceed with caution while we set up our strategy.
Even though Gyarados EX has a very costly attack, we have the advantage of being able to use Misty, which can help speed up the process of getting our star card into play. Despite luck not always being on our side, the deck is solid enough to hold out for 3-4 turns without taking too much damage before we’re able to play it.
Let’s take a look at the key cards that make up this deck.
Este mazo se caracteriza por ser algo lento ya que debemos hacer pasar unos cuantos turnos antes de empezar a atacar al enemigo, por ello utilizaremos cartas que obliguen al enemigo a no atacar o atacar con cuidado mientras nosotros montamos nuestra estrategia.
Aunque Gyradaos EX tiene un ataque muy costoso, tenemos la ventaja de poder usar a Misty y con suerte poder acelerar la puesta en juego de nuestra carta estrella. Aún así, la suerte no está de nuestro lado, el mazo es suficientemente bueno para poder aguantar sin sufrir mucho durante 3-4 turnos hasta poder jugarlo.
Veamos las cartas principales que componen este mazo.
MAGIKARP & GYARADOS EX

These will be the star cards of our deck and the ones that should lead us to victory.
First, we’ll try to get Magikarp from the Mythical Island expansion onto the bench as soon as possible, since we need to protect it at all costs due to its very low stats as a basic card.
Its Stage 1 evolution will be Gyarados EX, a card with a powerful attack dealing 140 damage points and a solid 180 HP. To unleash its attack, we need to equip it with at least 4 energy points. Additionally, it has an ability that forces both players to discard 1 energy at random, which can work to your advantage by disrupting your opponent’s strategy.
Éstas serán las cartas estrellas de nuestro mazo y las que deben darnos la victoria. En primer lugar intentaremos poner en juego a Magikarp de la expansión Isla Mítica en la bancada ya que debemos protegerla a toda costa debido a que en su nivel básico es muy débil.
Su evolución en Fase 1 será Gyarados EX una carta con un ataque de 140 puntos de daño y con 180 puntos de vitalidad. Tenemos que conseguir ponerle 4 puntos de energía mínimo para que pueda atacar. Además tiene la habilidad de descartar 1 energía al azar tanto tuya como del enemigo.
FROAKIE & FROGADIER & GRENINJA

We also have Froakie as a basic card, followed by its evolutions Frogadier in Stage 1 and finally Greninja in Stage 2.
One of the key advantages of this Pokémon line is that Froakie and its evolutions only cost 1 energy point to retreat. Additionally, Greninja has the Water Shuriken ability, which deals 20 damage points to any opposing Pokémon of your choice, even if it’s on the bench.
The ideal strategy is to deal passive damage from your bench to the opponent’s Pokémon they’re trying to keep safe on their own bench.
Además contamos con Froakie a nivel básico y sus evoluciones Frogadier en fase 1 y por último Greninja en fase 2. Este Pokémon tiene la ventaja de que solo cuesta 1 punto de energía retirarlo y además Greninja tiene la habilidad Water Shuriken que hace 20 puntos de daño al Pokémon rival que deseemos pudiendo estar en el banquillo.
Lo ideal es hacer daño pasivo desde el banquillo hacia los Pokémon del rival que quiera proteger en su banquillo.

And here’s the final deck that’s making waves in Pokémon tournaments:

We’ll start by using Druddigon as our tank. This card has solid endurance and the Rough Skin ability, which deals 20 damage points to the opponent every time it takes damage. There’s no need to equip Druddigon with energy, its role is simply to buy us time while we prepare our main attack with Gyarados EX.
As for Trainer cards, we’ll use Misty to speed up the energy setup for Gyarados EX, Professor's Research to draw extra cards, and Leaf to retreat Druddigon or any other Pokémon without spending energy.
Finally, we’ll include just 2 Poké Ball cards to make sure we can quickly grab some of our basic Pokémon when needed.
Y así quedaría el mazo que está triunfando en los torneos de Pokémon:

Usaremos en primer lugar como tanque a Druddigon una carta con buena resistencia y que tiene la habilidad Rough Skin que hace 20 puntos de daño al ser dañado. No necesitamos poner energía a éste Pokémon, su labor consiste en ganar tiempo mientras preparamos nuestro ataque con Gyarados EX.
Como cartas de entrenador tendremos a Misty para acelerar el proceso de energía con Gyarados EX, Professor's Research para robar cartas extra y Leaf para retirar a Druddigon o cualquier otro Pokémon sin gastar energía.
Por último, solo usaremos 2 cartas Poké Ball para asegurar que conseguimos a alguno de nuestros Pokémon básicos.
As usual, I’ve shared a YouTube video where you can see just how impressive it is to play with this deck. Most opponents end up surrendering once Gyarados EX is fully set up.
Pay close attention to the third match in the video, where I go up against a Celebi EX deck. I manage to pull off a last-minute victory after a tough streak of bad draws that left me struggling to build my strategy until the very end.

Y como es habitual, he compartido en Youtube un vídeo en el que podéis ver lo impresionante que es jugar con este mazo. Prácticamente todos los enemigos se retiran una vez tienes preparado a Gyarados EX.
Atentos al tercer combate de vídeo en el que me enfrento a un rival con el mazo de Celebi EX y consigo una victoria in extremis después de una mala racha de cartas en las que no consigo armar mi estrategia hasta el último momento.

Siempre me he preguntado si jugar este tipo de Juegos de Pokemon o de cartas a nivel general, es lo mismo que jugar Axie Infinity? este último me resultó bastante rudo de jugar, mucha lógica que aplicar para poder ganar.
Pokémon TCG Pocket está enfocado en coleccionar cartas y es por ello que su sistema de combate no es muy complicado. En un par de partidas lo dominas a la perfección. Además al ser desarrollado para dispositivos móviles los combates son rápidos con lo que no vas a perder mucho tiempo.
