Snaps are here!
PeakD recently released it's own short form feature called Snaps. This is a feature where you can post a short 280 letter post much like Twitter. Those who have used Threads by @inleo, Waves by @ecency or Moments by @liketu will already know the drill. There's no direct announcement post of Snaps but @PeakD still somwhat explains the feature in this post.
They've added a lot of features to Snaps since it's release roughly a week ago and one of those features are community integrations. That's what we're here to talk about today.
Gaming snaps
We highly encourage everyone in the community to make use of the Snap feature. It's a great way to get extra positive exposure on Hive.
Snaps are a great way to share lesser gaming moments that isn't suited for a whole blog post. Like sharing a cool screenshot, your latest win in Fortnite, that you're excited about playing a new game or that you're about to go live on your stream. It can also be a great place to ask simple questions or get a discussion going.
I would personally discourage using the Snaps feature only as post promotion. Try to contribute in more creative ways.
Curating gaming snaps
Starting today we will be actively reading and curating the Snaps feed for the Hive Gaming Community. We will also be curating comments made to snaps in the community.
I hope we can see some good Snap activity going forward and that it can be a positive feature to create an even more engaging community than we already have.
How to snap?
Snaps can be accessed from two places. The main feed can be found at the top of the PeakD page and should be hard to miss. It even has a blue border around it. This is where you'll find all and every Snap created and it will be the place to post general Snaps.
Community Snaps can be found on the community page in the top menu as illustrated below. By going in here you'll only get to see Snaps posted through your chosen community. It's also where you go to post your own Snaps. Snaps made through the community will show up on both the community feed and the general feed, meaning you won't lose out on the exposure of posting through the main feed. It's a best of both worlds!
Snaps showcase
Here's a collection of snaps that has already been made in the community.
Awesome news!
In my opinion, the feature has great potential and it's overlooked by most of the communities. Good to hear, that it is not the same in the Hive Gaming community. 😊
Cheers! As one of the biggest communities on Hive we have to lead by example. Let's hope others follow suit.
A feature to bring small updates from trying new games, cool screenshots or just anything that I want to talk about a cool game without writing an entire book?
Sounds right up my alley 😎
I will have to see if it may be useful for sharing clips too [hosted on Youtube I guess] but the idea of sharing mini moments over here feels like something I could really make a good use when there's probably WAY more stuff that I may end up trying at once but either aren't material for a blogpost yet [not enough impressions] or are games that I've already more than talked enough of previously lol
This basically perfectly sums up how to make good use of Snaps. It's a great way to connect with the cummunity. It will only bring positivity towards you and your content. Glad to see you're into it.
Me parece super genial está opción, recién había descubierto la de los waves en el ecency y me gustó mucho la mecánica, espero disfrutar también de los snaps.
Saludos.
Great to hear that. No need to use only one. Making use of both is a great way to reach more people.
Will use this account to create snaps! I may also cross-post with inleo's threads as it's my main HIVE platform these days.
Feel free to use any account and service you like. PeakD integrates all of the short services on it's page, but I don't think you can post directly into communities from those other ones. I might be wrong though.
Well, inleo's threads is best accessed from their own interface, but I love that PeakD can show all different short-form content containers on HIVE on it.

Would be cool if the different developers got together and made it so that crossposting became integrated. Click a button that activates a tag that makes the post visible on all frontends without making several posts on its own.
I think showing different containers in one front-end is plenty enough for now.

Wow! Awesome update. It's getting better and better! Snap, Snap, Snap
I be sure to add your tag every time i have a cool/funny moment ingame :)
I don't think adding a tag will add it to the Snap feed in itself, but you can try. If you want your Snaps visible in the feed you'll have to post it through the community I'm pretty sure.
Great, this is very useful for me and my games.
Sounds like threads a bold step peakd took for this
How is it a bold step?
Didnt really predict peakd would have something similar like tweets, was amaze of the progress
It seems to me that this is something from which much can be gained.
