[ENG/ESP] FRAN BOW #3 The Conjoined Sisters & The Awaited Reunion

Hello everyone! Here I am with another summary of my experience playing Fran Bow which for me has been a really curious game to this day, every time I play it something new surprises me and even to some point I could say that it horrifies me lol but as for now this chapter (being the 2nd) was the one that I was more invested in and so I hope y’all find it interesting too. This post will be filled with spoilers so read it at your own risk.

The last time I played Fran Bow, Fran just escaped the asylum, then finds herself in the forest after running away. Now looking for her adored cat Mr. Midnight, she finds a place where her cat might have been, but to see that place with her own eyes she needs to open that hidden door but before anything happens gets taken by a mysterious figure. Time passing again, Fran wokes up in an unknown kitchen, with traces left that tells us that she has been kidnapped and then treated like a cat by her abductors (something obviously weird but after all that this child has seen, it takes the place of the “less weird thing” until now haha). The place where she is feels strange, it seems to be surrounded by a big body of water, but never mind all that, Fran needs to investigate this place and try to escape it.

Looking more deeply around the house one of the first things we find is… can you guess what it is?, yes?, that’s right. ding, ding, ding, ding! a B O D Y w a s F U N D yay!, of course, it’s the body of someone we don’t know, but at the very first instance of seeing it laying lifelessly in the floor Fran could swear to god that she saw someone standing there before disappearing into dust… ohhh, scary isn’t?. The place seems ready to throw a tea party at any moment (if you don’t take into account the sliced body laying around ahem) with lots of food at the table and all the little and pink decorations that the place has, there are also some objects that seems so out of place looking at us so patiently, like a deer head or an owl, we also see photos hanging from the walls, photos of two sisters.

Creepy twins aside, we go around the second floor of the house, finding a bloody (like, it’s pretty much that haha) room surrounded by creepy dolls and a mirror that has not reflection, there's also some stairs that lead to the very dark attic, one that (for my disgrace hunggg) needs to be explored, so after 100 rounds around the house clicking everything to check it (including the body, wink wink) just so I could be prepared, I go up again to see the attic, waiting to be scared to death… but for my absolute surprise, that didn’t happen.

After turning on the only lamp that was there (one that I didn’t see before… I tried to use the candles I had with me but ended up being a clown) I could see everything more clear, it was an attic way smaller that I expected, it wasn’t as scary either but the darkness that covered it before turning on the lights + the fact that I could hear something moving around didn’t help to ease my imagination, this is a scary game for god’s sake. The only thing that made me uncomfortable while being up there (again, ignoring the creepy dolls and the dead animals… let me just ignore a bunch of stuff for my well being) was looking at the baby stroller to find out two conjoined babies inside… they only cried a bit, but man, I was not expecting that, let me point out again that I wouldn’t be so creep out if it wasn’t for the designs and the style of the game it’s just that good. But after not being able to do anything with the infants, we let them be, so the next thing up there that calls for our attention it’s nothing more than a cage with a lock.

And it’s in this cage that we finally find the one and only Mr. Midnight! I honestly couldn’t believe it was him at first (this game is making me doubt everything at all times and it shows) but as Fran keeps talking with the cat the possibility that it wasn’t him became nearly impossible, this one starts telling her how he tried to go after her when she was taken at the forest, how the presence that shows at her dreams wasn’t him at all and that he could feel it too, he then says that this presence was nothing close to evil and it was not human but it was peaceful and kind… then he asks Fran if she hears something too, so is here where Fran tells him not to worry and that she’ll investigate it and find the key to the lock, so we shall return downstairs and see what or who is there... coming down the attic we see that ghost from the beginning and as it shows up, it leaves again.

Then there we see them face to face sitting while drinking tea wearing their cold and untouched expressions, the sisters. After almost driving the poor child to a hart attack, they start to say that they were waiting for her and asking weird things like “Where’s your head?”, it looked like they were just mumbling strange things to confuse Fran just to start mocking her for being afraid and saying her how the murders of her parents were so brutal, and then they go on to ask her how she ended up there and Fran doesn’t have much options so she just tells them everything, but then they place their intentions at the table, they won’t release her cat unless she obeys them, telling her that they need her to perform a “magic trick”.

They gave her a recipe while saying that they can’t do it themselves because it could kill them, and finally they start to share a little more insight of who they are. They start telling Fran that they used to be two different people in two different bodies, that they were never conjoined before, that one night something appeared in front of them, how they thought it was an “angel” but it was not, and that he decided that they had to spend the rest of eternity together, cursing them… they want to use the spell to bring him back to get their revenge. They will now go to look for somethings for Fran to use in the spell, they tell her she can talk to her cat but that they won’t free him ‘til she helps them. And so they go their own way, looking at the recipe they gave Fran it looks like ingredients for a satanic ritual of some kind(?), a recipe for disaster indeed. This is where we go to the kitchen and suddenly there’s a figure that I’ve no seen before until that point, it was a skeleton, he exchanges glances with Fran and disappears into the night, leaving the window open.

Fran goes thru the window, being outside we can confirm that she is in a little island, and there doesn’t seem to be a way out of it. There is also a toad, and talking to him, we find that the place is some kind of a magnet to toads and cats, that Fran should not perform the magic spell because she will end up like the dead girl that she saw before, that she should try something different and to not trust the girls, he finally ask her to save them all so once again everything falls under the shoulders of the 10 year old girl. Using the pills we find another recipe, one that shows us the truth and also our way out, in the meantime we have to search for a couple of ingredients and also changing a little detail in the original recipe just to get hair from the girls lol, the girls come back with what seems to be a head in a bag and tell Fran to hurry, the toad comes back to get rid of the bag, assuring Fran that she won’t need it. Fran gets the hair, and starts to prepare the ingredients for the ritual, we also see the ghost around the house a couple of times, but it doesn’t do anything, it looks like it’s just trapped, but that’s not important now, Fran needs to carry on with the ritual once and for all.

And she does, she gets the girls and perform the ritual for them, while chanting unintelligible words (to be honest, it looks like some Slavic language but I’m not sure(?)) and at the end they notice the spell is not the same, but its too late, the spell works and they become nothing but ashes, but at least… they are finally free of each other. Aaaaannnndddd this is it folks! This is how you traumatize an already traumatized child!!! clap clap clap.

We get the key, but after trying to release Mr. Midnight we fail, but that’s because the key is not for the cage but for something else, and the only thing that was locked apart from the cage was the mirror, and here it works, yes, but there’s also a final puzzle to open it for real, and not gonna lie, I might have spend over 20 minutes trying to solve it (maybe more or maybe less, who knows, not me) and almost gave up but I solved it at least. And inside the mirror we find two skeletons, a letter, a couple of photos, a conjoined doll, more pills and another key. All these things may tell us a little more about the tragic lives of the twins, but nothing is clear on paper, it just gave us enough to imagine the hell that was like living their lives.

Fran finally lets Mr. Midnight out of the cage, at least reunited again with her old friend, and so along her cat she goes on to escape this hellish place. Now being able to leave this place, we go along the toad and say bye bye to the little island, and before this the toad gave Fran a book and her family photo that once was thought to be lost, and here comes another unique part of the game, a mini game in where we control the toad and have to jump in trunks and leaves to get to our destiny, this part looks like it was animated with clay and I just fucking loved it, it’s really short but as the labyrinth in the first chapters, it really feels nice to play this part. Then we part ways with Mr. Toad, and Fran is exited to go home with her cat, talking how much she wants to see her while Mr. Midnight says the first thing he would do when they get home is eat (such a mood). In their way, they find a bridge they have to cross, and as Fran is a little bit scared, Mr. Midnight goes first and she follows, but its here where our *not so dear * Mr. Demon comes in and makes Fran to fall into the abyss, for a moment Mr. Midnight tries to help her but then Fran blackouts and then everything is filled with darkness. She dreams again, at first falling, then being catch by Aunt Grace and then for a moment gets back again to asylum just in time for her medicine. But of course, this is just a dream.

Then we wake up, in the paws of Mr. Midnight, and Fran is… a stick(?) a trunk(??), a tree(???), she is in fact, a tree. Out of nowhere there comes two other figures, one looks like a carrot, and the other like a dried stick, it seems like they are attacking Fran at first, they are talking but we can’t understand them and Fran can not move, so being Mr. Midnight now we have to protect her and get her things, and after this is only when we show them the family photo of Fran that they stop “attacking” her and takes us both with them, and here is where we enter the 3rd chapter of the game.

But of course, this is where I’m leaving it for now, is been a hell of a ride, and honestly I’m enjoying it a lot, I didn’t expect to see Fran become a tree and I still don’t understand it, this game was already weird but it’s getting weirder, and I love it lmfao. Anyways, I hope you all like it, let me say again that you have to play this game, it gets better and better and it’s so enjoyable, I feel like I’m getting less creep-out by it now but I don’t think that is bad, it will definitely come back to scare me at some point, I’m sure of that. ¡Hola a todos! Aquí estoy con otro resumen de mi experiencia jugando a Fran Bow que ha sido un juego realmente curioso hasta el día de hoy, cada vez que lo juego me sorprende algo nuevo e incluso hasta cierto punto podría decir que me horroriza lol pero por lo pronto este capítulo (siendo el 2do) fue en el que más me sentí envuelta así que espero que todos lo encuentren interesante también. Este post estará lleno de spoilers así que léanlo bajo su propio riesgo.

La última vez que jugué a Fran Bow, Fran acababa de escapar del manicomio, luego encontrándose en el bosque después de haber huido. Ahora buscando a su adorado gato Mr. Midnight, encuentra un lugar donde su gato podría haber estado, pero para ver ese lugar con sus propios ojos necesita abrir esa puerta oculta pero antes de que algo llegue ocurrir es raptada por una misteriosa figura. Pasando el tiempo de nuevo, Fran se despierta en una cocina desconocida, con rastros que nos dicen que ha sido secuestrada y luego tratada como un gato por sus secuestradores (algo obviamente raro pero que después de todo lo que ha visto esta niña, ocupa el lugar de lo "menos raro" hasta ahora haha). El lugar donde se encuentra se siente extraño, parece estar rodeado de un gran cuerpo de agua, pero nada de eso importa, Fran necesita investigar este lugar e intentar escapar de este lugar.

Mirando más profundamente alrededor de la casa una de las primeras cosas que encontramos es... ¿puedes adivinar lo que es?, ¿sí?, así es, ¡ding, ding, ding, ding! un C U E R P O ha sido E N C O N T R A D O ¡yay!, por supuesto, es el cuerpo de alguien que no conocemos, pero en la primera instancia de verlo tirado sin vida en el suelo Fran podría jurar por Dios que vio a alguien de pie allí antes de desaparecer en el polvo... uuhhh, aterrador ¿no? El lugar parece listo para hacer una fiesta de té en cualquier momento (si no se tiene en cuenta el cuerpo rebanado tirado por ahí ahem) con mucha comida en la mesa y todos los pequeños adornos rosados que tiene el lugar, también hay algunos objetos que parecen un tanto fuera de lugar mirándonos tan pacientemente, como una cabeza de ciervo o un búho, también vemos fotos colgando de las paredes, fotos de dos hermanas.

Gemelas espeluznantes aparte, recorremos el segundo piso de la casa, encontrando una sangrienta (literalmente) habitación rodeada de muñecos espeluznantes y un espejo sin reflejo que mostrar, también hay unas escaleras que conducen al muy oscuro ático, uno que (para mi desgracia hunggg) necesita ser explorado, así que después de 100 vueltas por la casa dándole click a todo para revisarlo mejor (incluido el cuerpo, haha) solo para poder estar preparada, subo de nuevo a revisar el ático, esperando morir de miedo.... pero para mi absoluta sorpresa, eso no ocurrió.

Después de encender la única lámpara que había (una que no vi antes... traté de usar las velas que llevaba pero terminé siendo una payasa) pude ver todo más claro, era un ático mucho más pequeño de lo que esperaba, tampoco era tan tenebroso pero la oscuridad que lo cubría antes de encender las luces + el hecho de que podía escuchar algo moviéndose no ayudaba a aliviar mi imaginación, este es un juego de miedo por Dios. Lo único que me hizo sentir incómoda mientras estaba allí arriba (de nuevo, ignorando las muñecas espeluznantes y los animales muertos... ok, déjenme ignorar un montón de cosas para mi bienestar) fue mirar el coche para bebés para encontrar dos bebés unidos adentro de él... sólo lloraron un poco, pero hombre, yo no estaba esperando eso, permítanme señalar de nuevo que no sería tan aterrorizante si no fuera por los diseños y el estilo del juego es simplemente así de bueno. Pero después de no poder hacer nada con los infantes, los dejamos estar, así que lo siguiente que llama nuestra atención no es más ni nada menos que una jaula con candado.

¡Y es en esta jaula donde por fin encontramos al inigualable Mr. Midnight! Sinceramente al principio no podía creer que fuera él (este juego me está haciendo dudar de todo en todo momento y se nota) pero a medida que Fran sigue hablando con el gato la posibilidad de que no fuera él se hacía casi imposible, éste empieza a contarle cómo intentó ir por ella cuando se la llevaron en el bosque, cómo la presencia que aparece en sus sueños no era él en absoluto y que él también podía sentirla, luego dice que esa presencia no era para nada maligna y que no era humana pero que aun así esta era pacífica y amable... luego le pregunta a Fran si ella también escucha algo, es aquí donde Fran le dice que no se preocupe y que ella lo investigará y encontrará la llave de la cerradura, así que volveremos abajo y veremos qué o quién esta ahí... bajando de el ático vemos al mismo fantasma del principio y así como este aparece, se vuelve a ir.

Entonces las vemos cara a cara sentadas mientras beben té con sus expresiones frías e intactas, las hermanas. Después de casi hacer que la pobre niña tuviera un ataque de corazón, empiezan a decir que la estaban esperando y a preguntar cosas raras como "¿Dónde está tu cabeza?", parecía que solo estaban murmurando cosas raras para confundir a Fran solo para empezar a burlarse de ella por tener miedo y decirle cosas como que los asesinatos de sus padres fueron tan brutales, y luego pasan a preguntarle como terminó allí y Fran no tiene muchas opciones así que solo les cuenta todo, pero luego ponen sus intenciones en la mesa, no soltarán a su gato a menos que las obedezca, diciéndole que la necesitan para realizar un "truco de magia".

Estas le dan una receta mientras le dicen que no pueden hacerlo ellas mismas porque podría matarlas, y finalmente empiezan a compartir un poco más de información sobre quiénes son. Empiezan a contarle a Fran que antes eran dos personas diferentes en dos cuerpos diferentes, que nunca habían estado unidas antes, que una noche apareció algo delante de ellas, y pensaron que era un "ángel" pero no lo era, y que este decidió que tenían que pasar el resto de la eternidad juntas, maldiciéndolas... quieren usar el hechizo para traerlo de vuelta y vengarse. Ahora irán a buscar algo para que Fran lo use en el hechizo, le dicen que puede hablar con su gato pero que no lo liberarán hasta que ella las ayude. Y así siguen su camino, mirando la receta que le dieron a Fran parecen ingredientes para un ritual satánico de algún tipo(?), una receta para el desastre sin duda. Aquí es donde vamos a la cocina y de repente aparece una figura que no había visto hasta ese momento, era un esqueleto, intercambia miradas con Fran y desaparece en la noche, dejando la ventana abierta.

Fran sale por la ventana, al estar afuera podemos confirmar que está en una pequeña isla, y no parece haber una forma de salir de ella. También hay un sapo, y hablando con él, descubrimos que el lugar es una especie de imán para los sapos y los gatos, que Fran no debe realizar el hechizo mágico porque acabará como la niña muerta que vio antes, que debe probar algo diferente y que no se fíe de las gemelas, finalmente le pide que los salve a todos así que una vez más todo recae sobre los hombros de la niña de 10 años. Usando las pastillas encontramos otra receta, una que nos muestra la verdad y también nuestra salida, mientras tanto tenemos que buscar un par de ingredientes y también cambiar un pequeño detalle en la receta original solo para conseguir cabello de las chicas lol, estas vuelven con lo que parece ser una cabeza en una bolsa y le dicen a Fran que se apure, el sapo vuelve para deshacerse de la bolsa, asegurando a Fran que no la necesitará. Fran consigue el cabello, y empieza a preparar los ingredientes para el ritual, también vemos al fantasma por la casa un par de veces, pero no hace nada, parece que solo está atrapado, pero eso no es importante ahora, Fran tiene que seguir con el ritual de una vez por todas.

Y lo hace, lleva a las chicas y les hace el ritual, mientras canta palabras ininteligibles (para ser sincera, parece algún idioma eslavo pero no estoy segura(?)) y al final se dan cuenta de que el hechizo no es el mismo, pero es demasiado tarde, el hechizo funciona y se convierten en nada más que cenizas, pero al menos... por fin están libres la una de la otra. ¡Yyyyyy esto es todo amigos! ¡Así es como se traumatiza a una niña ya traumatizada!!! Aplausos.

Conseguimos la llave, pero tras intentar liberar a Mr. Midnight fracasamos, pero eso es porque la llave no es para la jaula sino para otra cosa, y lo único que estaba cerrado aparte de la jaula era el espejo, y aquí funciona, sí, pero también hay un puzzle final para abrirlo de verdad, y no voy a mentir, puede que me haya pasado más de 20 minutos intentando resolverlo (quizás más o quizás menos, quién sabe, yo no) y casi me rindo pero lo resolví al menos. Y dentro del espejo encontramos dos esqueletos, una carta, un par de fotos, una muñeca unida, más pastillas y otra llave. Todas estas cosas pueden contarnos un poco más sobre la trágica vida de las gemelas, pero nada queda claro sobre el papel, sólo nos dio lo suficiente para imaginar el infierno que fue vivir sus vidas.

Fran finalmente deja salir a Mr. Midnight de la jaula, por lo menos se reencuentra con su viejo amigo, y así junto a su gato continua su escape de este lugar infernal. Ya pudiendo salir de este lugar, vamos junto al sapo y nos despedimos de la isla, y antes de esto el sapo le da a Fran un libro y la foto de su familia que alguna vez se creyó perdida, y aquí viene otra parte única del juego, un mini juego en el que controlamos al sapo y tenemos que saltar en troncos y hojas para llegar a nuestro destino, esta parte parece que fue animada con arcilla y la verdad es que me encantó, es muy corta pero como el laberinto del primer capítulo, se siente muy bien jugar esta parte. Luego nos separamos del señor Sapo, y Fran está emocionada por volver a casa con su gato, hablando de las ganas que tiene de ver a su tía mientras Mr. Midnight dice que lo primero que haría al llegar a casa es comer (yo haría lo mismo). En su camino, encuentran un puente que tienen que cruzar, y como Fran está un poco asustada, Mr. Midnight va primero y ella le sigue, pero es aquí donde nuestro no tan querido señor Demonio entra en escena y hace que Fran caiga al abismo, por un momento Mr. Mignight intenta ayudarla pero entonces Fran se desmaya y luego todo se llena de oscuridad. Vuelve a soñar, primero cayendo, luego siendo atrapada por la tía Grace y por un momento vuelve al asilo justo a tiempo para su medicina. Pero, por supuesto, esto es sólo un sueño.

Entonces nos despertamos, estando las garras Mr. Midnight , y Fran es... un palo(?) un tronco(??), un árbol(??¡), es de hecho, un árbol. De la nada salen otras dos figuras, uno parece una zanahoria, y el otro un palo seco, parece que están atacando a Fran al principio, están hablando pero no les entendemos y Fran no se puede mover, así que siendo Mr. Midnight ahora tenemos que protegerla y recoger sus cosas, y después de esto es sólo cuando les enseñamos la foto familiar de Fran que dejan de "atacarla" y nos llevan a los dos con ellos, y aquí es donde entramos en el 3er capítulo del juego.

Pero claro, aquí es donde lo dejo por ahora, está siendo un viaje espectacular, y sinceramente lo estoy disfrutando mucho, no esperaba ver a Fran convertida en un árbol y todavía no lo entiendo, este juego ya era raro pero cada vez lo es más, y me encanta lmfao. En fin, espero que les guste a todos, déjenme decir de nuevo que tienen que jugar a este juego, cada vez se pone mejor y se disfruta mucho, siento que ahora me da menos miedo pero no creo que eso sea malo, seguro que en algún momento volverá a asustarme, estoy segura de ello.
