Quest for Deck - Trade or Buy, I Just Want One.

My friends probably remember how crazy I was for the PS5 last year and how much I wanted to get one. After getting one and using it for a few months, I eventually traded it for a PC.

But the thing is, I had traded a PC for the PS5.
It's all trade-trade-trade. Why? Well, because I don't have a lot of money so this is how I get to experience new things.
And the next experience that I have in mind is the Steam Deck.

I've been following the Deck around since it was originally announced and I knew from the start I wanted to get one.
Back in the day I sold the PC I had for $600 (adjusted for inflation) so I could save up and get one. Buuut I ended up buying another PC instead when the crypto boom died down, and it was a great PC.

Shit happened and we get to where we are now.
However, there's a reason to why I think the Deck might be a little different.

And that reason is this:

The Steam Deck is a fully fleshed out Linux PC that can be used docked like any other Linux PC.

From what I've seen, everything that my PC does, the Deck does too, specially considering the fact that I run Linux on my main PC.

If I can play games, edit videos with Kdenlive, edit photos with GIMP and publish stuff on HIVE, that's all I need!

So that's the reason why I'm sort of positive I won't be trading my future Deck anytime soon, because it's a PC.

And what about my current PC?
Well, it might be a bit hard to trade it for a Deck, but if I get lucky it might just happen.

This is my current PC. An i5 7600, GTX 1660 Super and 16GBs of RAM. Worth around the R$2500 mark down here in the middle of nowhere. That's also the price I can find the cheapest Decks for in big cities... Unfortunately I don't live in a big city, so that's why I'm mentioning luck.

In the end it'll be a game of waiting. I'll keep writing to HIVE and trying to find odd jobs, as my knee doesn't allow me to keep a fixed job but if anyone shows up wanting to trade a Deck in good condition for my PC, the answer will most likely be a resounding yes.
