New community maps added in CS:GO - Any thoughts? [Let's Play Games #59]

in Hive Gaming3 years ago

Hey, hey! Sup everyone? 😎

I know that perhaps the whole world already knows what's happening on the border with Romania while on almost all TV channels there are images and news from the war between Russia and Ukraine and most likely you see more rare a smile on peoples' faces these days, but we gotta be strong and pray for those who are suffering in every minute and hope that the whole madness will be over soon.

I won't be a hypocrite saying that I'm not afraid, because I had lots of nightmares, tears falling down my cheeks and sleepless nights since this thing started but this was very amplified by all the images you see on the internet and on TV. Since staying away from the news and what happens just 45 km away from me wasn't the best option, I decided to take my information only from safe sources which are shared via text while keeping myself away from the powerful videos we see everywhere.

Anyway, I'd rather not continue this subject anymore because I know that opinions are split and social media became the perfect place where you can express your feelings if you want, so today's post comes with an update that was made to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive the previous Monday.

Now maybe you'll ask yourself If this was released one week ago, why writing about it today? - well, the thing is that with the end of the Riptide Operation, everyone expected to see Valve coming out with something new added to the game. And this is exactly what happened in the same day the operation disappeared from the game, talking about four new maps. But the secret here is that I had some sources which assumed there is also going to come out a new case today so I said: what better way to share the news if not by waiting one more week and present them both?

But as we say in Romania, the accounts at home don't match those at the fair, that's exactly what happened because there is no new case added at the moment in CS:GO, so until this will come out, I'll share the new maps you can enjoy with your friends. 😇

In addition to removing Operation Riptide from the game, the community maps that could be played during the weekly missions were also removed, which is kind of sad thinking of how many people enjoyed these and started playing the game on a different level, but perhaps they will be brought back in the near future, who knows?

To make things more clear, I'm talking about Basalt, Insertion_2, Ravine, Extraction and County which players can still enjoy if they look for community servers but which is a completely different thing from the way you were able to play them before.

The first two maps we can discuss about are called Climb and Iris and they both can be enjoyed during the Competitive and Wingman modes which are basically 5vs5 or 2vs2 matches.

Climb map was created by ‘RZL, Squidski, and Coachi and it takes place in a Brazilian climbing gym filled with lots of colourful rooms where you can either lurk and wait for the enemies to come over and shut them down one by one, or you can train yourself in terms of how to throw the grenades or what are the best shooting angles/positions.

This map comes with hostages so there is not going to be any site A or site B where to plant the bomb as a Terrorist. Hence why, the hard work is made by the Counter-Terrorists team which has to save these hostages and take them to a safe place in order to score a winning round. You can also see the map HERE, along with more pictures of it and the map plan.

Iris map was created by BubkeZ and Oliver and it's based on an industrial warehouse that will make you think instantly of the Train map we all played since Counter-Strike 1.6. The complex middle area comes with a generous space where to have a proper war between the two teams being able to throw many grenades, hide behind the obstacles and even learn some boosting positions that will come with an advantage for those who make them.

The map is based on the usual play mode with the bomb being planted by Terrorists in either site A or site B and you can see the map HERE for more pictures.

The two maps added in the game are for the battle royale mode of CSGO known as Danger Zone. This is a mode that I always said that you are going to either love it or hate it because there is literally no in-between, and while I hated this mode since it was added to the game making no sense to me, after being sort of forced to play it during the last two operations released in the game, I finally came to the conclusion that I should give it a try and I started playing it reaching Hunter Fox III rank which is basically the 10/15 rank, so I'm not doing too bad I guess, lol! 😅

Vineyard map was created by Andi, Squidski, Haaselh0ff, Slimek, T-R3x3r, seth, Quoting and KlixX and it's based on an Italian countryside which sort of makes me think about a mix between Italy and Blacksite maps. Italy is a classic map that perhaps the players from Counter-Strike 1.6 known better, and Blacksite is one of the two Danger Zone maps left in the game before adding the new ones after removing Operation Riptide from it.

You can check out more of the map HERE and let me know your thoughts about it because to me it looks very familiar for some reason. I'm wondering if Valve accepted again some work done with copyrights violations as it happened with the M4A4 Howl skin? We shall see! 🤔

And last but not least, Ember is the 4th map added to the game which was created by JimWood and TanookiSuit3 and perhaps the most interesting spot from the map that will gain lots of players around it, is the erupting volcano which is a completely new thing for the CSGO fans.

This is a map that goes along really well with the rest of the Danger Zone maps without thinking of too many things that could break any copyrights. Of course, there is the forest and beach you see in most of the maps from this game mode, but somehow it managed to stay away from being inspired too much from the others. You can also check this one out HERE for more in-game pictures.

By adding these two Danger Zone maps there is a total of four that people can play on this game mode due to the County map which was removed as part of the update when the Operation Riptide ended, but one of the biggest complaints of this mode and which I also don't like is the part that you are not able to pick a map you want to play on but you have to go through a rotating system getting players on a specific map for a few tens of minutes in a row, but since they decided to add new maps I think it's the time to allow players to queue for a specific map rather than waiting.

I'm sure the current system makes lots of players give up on playing this mode because you can't love all the maps and that makes you go play something else instead of waiting until you can join your favourite map. 😉

What do you think of this update though? Did you manage to play any of the new maps already? If so, what are your thoughts about them? I heard quite a few guys saying that they experience a lot of frame drops which is not fun at all in a shooter game! 😜

Looking forward to hearing from you down in the comments section! I'd like to read some more opinions about these and perhaps learn something new from you! 💚

I miss CS:GO very much. I was playing non-stop back in 2014. Probably the golden times of CS:GO I believe. I used to stay late at night to watch tournaments and listen to my friends cheering for different teams--some of them even bet skins!
Last month I had a chance to play an unrated match with my friend. It was very nostalgic. I am glad the game is still going well! The map looks very fantasy and nice! I like the lava puddle over there :D

I feel you! I had a break of around 2 years from 2015 to 2017 because the game was way too toxic for me and it wasn't contributing too much on having a peaceful life back then, but since I started again it's a lot easier to deal with these things when you have your friends around.

And I totally know what you are saying about watching tournaments as I still watch every single one of them these days and I also bet a bunch of skins back in 2014, but these are the things that create memories and will always stay in our hearts. Even if it's just a game, as many people would say. 😀

And yeah, the game did change a lot since 2014, but we all miss this nostalgic activity, aren't we? 😅

Also, thanks for taking time to read my post and write your comment - it's much appreciated and nice to meet you! 😇

Wow that is great to see. It is a new development and improvement.

Indeed. Valve seems like having lots of plans with CSGO and that makes me excited!

I need to download CS:GO again so we can play and you can 🔪 me again on these new maps 😀

Hahaha, can't wait for that little brother! I got a new skin for my knife so I need to test it out! 😀

Lol! As long as it's not my skin you replace it with 😀

Hahaha, good one! 😂

I played CS:GO many years ago. I bought it in a discount in the Christmas of 2015. I have around 900 hours in it. Many players were crazy. They shouted without reasons, and they often wanted to kick me also without reasons. Sometimes they successfully did it.

I would not play CS:GO nowadays. Even if I could afford to buy a PC/laptop.

But good luck and have fun.

I also purchased the game but these days is free to play which is not the best feeling for someone who spent some bucks buying it.

Anyway, I know what you are talking about because CSGO is considered the 2nd most toxic game in the world and it's impossible not to meet that kind of people who break the whole fun but it's important to play with some friends so you have control when they try to kick you or if they become too toxic.

At least that's how I handle the things and avoid playing alone 🙂

Well, my computer is having problems in the storage department, I do miss CS:GO a bit, so maybe I'll give it a try after I figure out what's going on.

I don't remember how much space CSGO occupies but it shouldn't be too much.

And I know how it feels missing this game because I've grow up with the series and every time I gave up playing it, I felt like something is missing from my life, lol!

I feel a lot of things missing in my life, most people I know that played CS:GO have pretty much moved on with their lives. I kind of joined the scene late, but in a short time, had a lot of good memories.

I think we all have things missing in our lives but it's up to us if we can move on or bring them back 😃
