Today I would like to tell you something a little curious, in my opinion quite positive and a thumbs up for those video games with which we grew up and still continue playing. Being new to this platform I did not know all the communities that could interest me, today I decided to make my first publication in #Hivegaming of many to come.
As we did not come from a wealthy family or with enough economic reach, I did not have the pleasure of having different game consoles in my possession. Approximately when I was 10 years old, my mom bought me the Nintendo Dsi XL console, at that time it was the best option regarding portable consoles.
Weeks ago I decided to give it to my little 8 year old brother-in-law because his computer was damaged and he had nothing to entertain himself with, even more in a pandemic, so he had to stay at home for a long time and it seemed like a good time to make him happy.
My little brother-in-law is a shy person and was not very skilled, so it was very difficult for him to coordinate his movements. First I installed in his R4 classic titles like New Super Mario Bros, Mario 64, Mario and Sonic in the Winter Olympics, Contra 4, Mario Kart, among others with which he was doing well and enjoyed them, but about a week after I gave it to him I remembered a game that in my experience is one of the best Rhythm Paradise.
It's a pretty basic game with different levels of difficulty and best of all, it works with rhythmic patterns which makes it incredibly entertaining. When a game is catchy and captivating, it generates the feeling of beating the levels with the best score.
In a few words I decided to put it in his r4 and show it to him, at the beginning he did not do very well and he was frustrated, as I said he was not very skillful and it was hard for him to coordinate his movements, just at that moment was when the magic began, due to so much repetition and practice with the game he improved progressively, his hands used them more fluently and he looked more comfortable until he reached the point of playing with his eyes closed and only be guided with the audio of the game by the musical rhythms.
As of the date of this publication he has already completed every single level of this game and completed many other games, which has me incredibly happy, satisfied and amazed at how much of an impact such a simple video game had on a child. To think that this little positive journey began when I made the decision to dust off my old and treasured game console.
Video games are not bad, in fact I believe they boost creativity and many of us play for passion, others just for distraction, but I never imagined that my little brother-in-law would improve his concentration and coordination between his 5 senses, plus his motor skills, and it is even reflected in his classes and school activities.

Oye al ver el DS me dio mucha nostalgia, justamente yo tuve ese mismo DS XL color vinotinto y tuve un R4 que tenía si mal no recuerdo unos 50 juegos, pero como siempre los mejores eran pocos, mario, fifa street, sonic, etc ,etc pero de verdad que tu post me hizo recordar muy buenas vivencias de hace muchisimos años! un saludo hermano

Que linda y agradable que fue tu acción y no me imagino la felicidad que te haya dado ver que le haya gustado y apasionado tanto al punto de mejorar, le diste una muy buena oportunidad a ese pequeño y por lo menos tendrá algo por lo que entretenerse por un muy buen tiempo. Yo recuerdo que me compraron un 3DS, tal vez cuando tenía al menos unos 11 años, estuve 2 años jugando con él hasta que lastimosamente mi R4 murió y los juegos de 3DS que me quedaban ya los había completado. :(
hola, bueno si la verdad se logro cumplir con el objetivo principal que era un poco de entretenimiento, para que se distrajera un poco respecto a las cuarentenas debido a la pandemia, pero ver como mejoraba no tiene precio...
excelente consola la 3DS mejoro en su momento el rendimiento y gráficas
