Time to go back into the darkness!!
A couple of days ago I started playing this game called animal well which if you don't know it I wouldn't blame you because I didn't know it either until I found it after looking for it due to a recommendation But according to many analysts it is one of the best games of this year
I didn't really understand why people said this or what the game was about in the first place
but almost always when these games come out that are developed by one person over a fairly long period of time they are usually either very good or so bad that they never come out
And I tend to take a lot of risks in my selection of games to play at this time because I have a lot of free time and I can dedicate myself to exhaustively examining each and every corner of a game if I see that a recommendation tells me that it is excellent
At least I have a little free time to get lost without knowing what to do for 5 hours straight while I try to solve some puzzle or try to jump some platform in which you need to be very precise in the controls something that I find very funny because my brother finished this game within a few hours of starting it
When we We enter the darkness, everything seems scary and even the smallest animals can give us a good scare and the mystery behind this game and behind what you have to do all the time I think is one of the greatest virtues it has
Put yourself in this situation
You are wandering aimlessly and without having any idea of what to do, just exploring each of the areas you enter and realizing the mechanisms in the town
There are seeds that explode and make fireworks to springs that help us press certain buttons or for example boxes with keys that can open any door, each and every one of them takes you to new rooms with new puzzles and new ways of interacting with the environment
It is complex to explain when you do not play it yourself because part of the beauty of this title is also its aesthetics and how it is designed
When you enter a room you can feel that journey of nostalgia through your skin, either because of its graphics that reflect that golden age of video games or also because of the music or the simplicity of the controls in which we can only jump, grab things and use them, although the latter is only It happens in some cases
For some puzzles you have to be very focused that you are going in the right direction because some mechanisms or switches usually work only in that room and there are quite a few others in which you need up to three switches to unlock the path you must follow,
so you have to be very careful of what you are unlocking as well as the objects you carry because they will be very useful at some point
Nothing is random here because whenever you find an object that seems out of place in the room you can pick it up and at some point later you will surely use it. In addition, this game also teaches you things through exposition and for example I learned that the seeds of fireworks work well to scare away ghosts and to scare the animals that come after us
Or that the springs work to press buttons and in some puzzles they can help us a lot to unlock doors or get keys. Also, the animals are part of the mechanics that we can use to climb things or to reach objects that are far away from us
So I lied when I said that all the animals here were scary, some are quite cute
It is a long journey that still I'm not finished and I probably haven't discovered everything this game has to offer
but I can say that I'm at least halfway there. I still don't know what this game is about. I still don't know what message it will leave me with at the end
But what I do know is that I'm having a lot of fun with the puzzles and the aesthetics I'm using. So I'm going to leave it here as a recommendation. In case you have some free time like me.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH, SEE YOU

If you like video game content you can follow me, I also talk about chess and life itself so I'll wait for you.
It sounds like fun I love how each level is being build and the darkness really brings it out
has some very interesting uses of darkness and you can even manipulate it yourself in some puzzles with items you find
Hmm i can see that
Sometimes it comes down to how much experience someone have in this genre of games. Was he the one who recommended you this game?
I have put on my wishlist to be played later when I get some more free time. The world design is top notch.
Yeah, he did, and I think he has a lot of experience playing games, you know The Witness? He completed it in a little over a week and I think for that game it's a big deal
