Hytopia, the blockchain-enabled, web3 successor to Minecraft, unveiled one of their latest tricks, autonomous AI running NPC characters in-game! These are self-driven characters who will do jobs, wander around, and even talk to and trade with each other. Though 2024 was the year of AI hype, 2025 will be the year that we start to see real implementations, particularly in gaming.

This feature is still new, and the team doesn't promise a full integration, though they do hint that such an addition to the game might be possible in the near future. Until then, you'll be able to play around with a sample AI Agent project that should be available soon.

AI agents are a hot commodity at the moment, and the TOPIA token surged up 20% in a day on the back of this news, despite the downward trend among Bitcoin and most other tokens.

What is TOPIA token?

TOPIA token is the ecosystem currency for Hytopia and the Hychain. It will function as the transaction currency, be accepted as payment in the official marketplace, and also have hooks for easy addition and integration with games and other apps.

It has a circulating supply of a little over 1.2 billion with a max supply of 5 billion.

What is Hytopia?

Hytopia is a Minecraft-inspired game that includes native blockchain integration, allowing world owners to build their own gaming ecosystem by launching tokens and NFTs that are tied to their game worlds. It boasts more detailed graphics, improved modder support, and support for integration of blockcha## Header 2in elements such as tokens and NFTs,

Hytopia was originally NFT Worlds, but after Microsoft banned blockchain integrations with Minecraft, they pivoted and decided to build an entirely new game engine from scratch. That vision expanded further, and now Hytopia is its own side-chain, Hychain. With a single-point of login, an integrated NFT marketplace, and a ready-to-use game development kit, Hytopia hopes to provide appeal to both developers and players with an easy to use and understand system.

Owning a World NFT won't be required for building on Hychain, but it will provide some sort of benefit, and holders can already stake their worlds for a passive income of TOPIA tokens.

Hytopia has not officially released yet, but they do have an SDK available so game developers can get started on integrating into the Hychain. They have a rather extensive set of documentation for developers at https://dev.hytopia.com/
