Hello hello dear Hive users, long time no play Don't Starve after I promised I was going to get through it in a week, I guess I can't rely too much on my feelings to play some games since the last time I played this game I have replayed Hades and also started an adventure with Dave the Diver, so let's start from the beginning learning again what this game is about and how to play it.

Believe it or not, my last session playing the game went pretty well at the start, I made it to day two without any injuries or food in my backpack, from there I found a tribe of humanoid pigs and decided I was going to stay safe there while I found some resources I was missing to increase the things I can craft a bit, at the moment only the basics, an axe, a rock pickaxe and food so I need to expand.

From scratch Don't Starve is simple, you only need to read the title to know what will be our goal in all this, we are a scientist who is trapped in an unknown dimension without any of his gadgets and we will have to manage to build a way back, surviving meanwhile, starting with the basics, building fire and some tools that help us to build bigger and bigger things, although the dangers lurk and every day are more evident.

At first glance I think you can't mistake that this game has an inspiration by Benjamin Burton and his designs, the whole tetric style of the game where we are alone along the huge straits of land makes just chopping stone or chopping wood and feel that there is something lurking in the distance, although in these early days I have only felt truly vulnerable at night, where we will have to have fire if we don't want to be devoured by the unknown forces of this place.

We can spend hours collecting resources and trying to build a base of operations, but the truth is that at least in my case the world of Don't Starve seems to me the most interesting, so much so that I do not last too long in one place, but I move on and I get lost in various terrains in the hope of finding new resources or tools, in the land abound trees, mines and animals but there are also other less conventional elements such as forgotten camps or villages where we can find other characters who live in this area.

It's a roguelike in the Minecraft style, lots of exploration where we will have to go grabbing small resources to then put them together and make some of the essential elements of the whole game, with a pickaxe, an axe and some traps to collect animals and eat them we will be safe but it is the fire that we will need to take care of in the dark nights with our lives, because if we are in complete darkness it will be a definitive game over for us.

the gameplay is essentially simple, by day we will have to wander around the terrain trying to grab some resources, we will have some designs already unlocked but we can also create machines that allow us to unlock through plans (which are also created with resources) new tools that will give us a little more complete vision of the whole experience, once we have certain prototypes we can enter a more personalized scene, trying to build our base and optimize our way to find and refine resources.

There are some bars that we will have to take care of, the health bar and the food bar I already know by heart, but in this game we will also have the mental health bar, and it is here where I don't quite understand what this is based on, I have been seeing that if we eat food that has not been cooked or if we eat it directly as we found it in the game this bar goes down a little, I still don't understand very well how to raise it but it is interesting how even the smallest things affect our character.

The world itself is also interesting, all the dynamics that we can find, from the pig-humanoid inhabitants going out to hunt spiders to the camps that I mentioned before and give that touch of mystery to this whole world, it doesn't feel like a big island full of resources and a couple of enemies but more like a living environment where several characters make life and now we are in the middle of it all.

It certainly hasn't grabbed me so far, I haven't spent the time for it to do so either, I come from a couple of very good roguelikes and it's hard to keep my expectations afloat after experiencing gameplays as dynamic as Hades, even so I'm giving this game another chance to surprise me, I like the aesthetics and the systems that are in this unknown dimension too, I hope Wilson and company will make me enjoy it.

Sort:

I don't know why, but I can't play this game well. I guess I'll have to follow some tutorials. I remember one night when I didn't light a fire and it made scary noises haha. As far as I know @demotry was playing this game in the community with some friends.

 last year

the day is split in to three parts. daytime, afternoon and blackest night(unless full moon).

you have the freedom to do things in both daytime and the afternoon but not at night, snuggle the fireplace at night~ lol.

guides from me:

kill butterflies to get butterfly wings (eating this restores hp and hunger)

build the cooking pot early, then proceed to cook meatballs via 1 monster meat + other foodstuff. (make sure you only use 1 monster meat, 2 makes monster lasagna and that gives a big penalty to sanity)

you can get monster meat from spiders which wander outside the spider's nest in the afternoon~

@jijisaurart is the more enlightened one when it comes to this game. She knows a lot~ She's amazing at this game.

Haha~ I am just following @takuri.

How cool, just a few hours ago I downloaded this game to make a post about it.

It really is a very good game, and if you don't know how to manage your time you will die of hunger in the first three days hahaha, I feel that the main thing is to collect a lot of food and materials and then start with the missions to kill the bosses. !LUV !LOLZ

Me and my friend tried this game, after playing it for hours and trying out different modes, we didn't quite get the hang of it. So we then started playing raft.
